Expenvo Privacy Policy

Effective date: April 23, 2026. This policy explains what information Expenvo collects, how it is used, how it may be shared with processors, and what choices users have over their data.

1. Information Expenvo collects

Expenvo may collect the following categories of information:

  • Account data: email address, authentication identifiers, and display name.
  • Profile data: information a user chooses to add to their profile.
  • Expense and wallet data: wallets, shared-wallet memberships, expenses, categories, notes, dates, and amounts.
  • Receipt, statement, and voice inputs: files or media a user intentionally submits for scanning, importing, or parsing.
  • Support data: messages sent to support, app version, and platform information.
  • Technical data: service logs and security events necessary to protect the service and debug failures.

2. How Expenvo uses information

  • To create and secure user accounts.
  • To store, sync, and display wallets, expenses, and custom categories.
  • To support wallet sharing and collaboration between invited users.
  • To process receipt scans, financial document imports, voice expense capture, and AI-generated summaries when a user chooses to use those features.
  • To respond to support requests, investigate abuse, and maintain service reliability.

3. Legal bases and product operation

Expenvo processes data to operate the service requested by the user, maintain account security, and fulfill legitimate operational needs such as fraud prevention, troubleshooting, and service integrity.

4. Sharing and processors

Expenvo does not sell personal information for money. Expenvo may share data with service providers that process information on its behalf, including:

  • Supabase for authentication, database storage, and backend functions.
  • OpenAI for AI-powered receipt, statement, voice, and insight features when a user invokes those features.
  • Resend or another email provider for support message delivery if email notifications are enabled.

These providers receive only the data reasonably necessary to perform the requested service or processing task.

5. AI feature disclosures

  • AI features are optional and user-initiated.
  • AI outputs may be inaccurate and should be reviewed before relying on them.
  • Uploaded content used for AI processing may include transaction descriptions, totals, dates, merchants, notes, or spoken expense content.

6. Data retention

Account data is retained while an account remains active. Users may delete their account from inside the app. Deletion removes active account data from Expenvo systems, subject to limited backup retention and legal or security obligations. Operational backups may persist for up to 30 days before expiring.

7. User choices and rights

  • Users can access and update profile information in the app.
  • Users can export account data from the app.
  • Users can delete their account from the app.
  • Users can contact Expenvo at support@expenvo.com for privacy or support questions.

8. Children

Expenvo is not directed to children under 13, and Expenvo does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

9. Security

Expenvo uses administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect personal information. No system can guarantee absolute security, but Expenvo works to limit access, secure backend operations, and reduce unnecessary retention and logging.

10. Changes to this policy

Expenvo may update this policy from time to time. The current version will be posted on this page with an updated effective date.
