Citi overdraft fee

Citi's compare page prints no overdraft or returned item fees for everyday checking, Citi Priority, and Citigold. The monthly service fee is a different line, on how to waive a Citi monthly fee. The wider table is US overdraft fees by bank.

What Citi prints

Opened 22 October 2026. The compare page at citi.com/banking/compare-bank-accounts checks No Overdraft or Returned Item Fees for Everyday, Citi Priority, and Citigold. The Simplified Banking Fact Sheet dated 10/01/2026 says that while Citibank will not charge you an overdraft fee, Citibank may return or pay a transaction item at its discretion, and it may stop allowing overdrafts without notice.

Access Checking is designed so transaction items that would cause an overdraft will not be authorized. Safety Check, a transfer from a linked money market or savings account, is not available for Access Checking. Checking Plus, a variable-rate line of credit, needs an application and is also not available for Access Checking.

The same compare page lists a monthly service fee of $15 for Everyday Regular Checking, $5 for Access Checking, and $4.50 for Savings. Citi Priority and Citigold list no monthly fee. A non-Citi ATM is $2.50 on Regular or Access Checking, and no fee on Priority and Citigold. A money order is $5, an official check is $10, and a stop payment is $30. Those three are waived on Priority and Citigold. A foreign exchange fee on a Citi debit card used abroad is 3.00%, also waived on Priority and Citigold. Those are not overdraft fees.

The line on your own statement is the one that counts. Upload it on the upload page. The PDF stays on your device. Expenvo lists the lines. It does not call the institution.

What no fee does not mean

No overdraft fee does not mean every payment will be paid. The fact sheet says Citibank may return or pay the item, and it may stop allowing overdrafts without notice. A returned payment can still cause a late fee at the company you were trying to pay. That fee is not a Citi overdraft fee.

Asking Citi to review a different fee already on the statement is a request. Citi can say no. Match the account name on the PDF before you use the everyday, Priority, or Citigold row.
