Bank of Hawaii overdraft fee

Bank of Hawaii's overdraft page prints a $30 Non-Sufficient Funds Fee when an item that exceeds the available balance is paid or returned. It charges at most three of those fees in one business day. No fee applies when the end of day available balance is overdrawn by $4.99 or less, or when the item is $2.49 or less. The wider list is US overdraft fees by bank. Every overdraft guide is on overdraft fee guides. A yearly total from numbers you type is on the bank fee calculator. It does not look up this institution.

What the overdraft page and the July 2026 fee schedule print

Opened 23 October 2026. The rules are on Bank of Hawaii's overdraft page. A Non-Sufficient Funds Fee of $30 is charged when an item that exceeds the available balance is paid or returned. You will not be charged more than three NSF fees in any one business day. You will not be charged an NSF fee on a business day when the end of day available balance is, or would have been, overdrawn by $4.99 or less. No NSF fee is charged if the item causing or increasing the overdrawn amount is $2.49 or less.

ATM transactions and everyday debit card transactions are not covered unless you enroll in Debit Card Overdraft Coverage. That option has no fee to sign up or cancel. The page prints an Overdraft Item Fee of $30 each time the account is overdrawn under that coverage, with the same three a day cap and the same $4.99 and $2.49 exceptions. Debit Card Overdraft Coverage is not available for EASE by Bank of Hawaii accounts. If you do not enroll, the NSF fees still apply to checks and other transactions the page names, including an in person withdrawal, an automatic payment, and a recurring debit card transaction. Bank of Hawaii pays overdrafts at its discretion.

The consumer checking and savings fee schedule, form DDA-161 revised 27 July 2026, prints $30.00 for a returned item and $30.00 for an item paid into overdraft. A footnote says overdraft fees will not apply to ATM or everyday debit card transactions by consumers who have not authorized those fees. An overdraft protection transfer from savings is no charge, and enrollment is required. A cashier's check is $12.00, waived for Bankohana Cash Advantage and Bankohana Level II and Level III checking. A stop payment is $35.00 per item, waived for all Bankohana accounts. Closing an account within 180 days of opening is $70.00 for Bankohana checking, no fee for EASE by Bank of Hawaii, and $40.00 for other checking and savings accounts. An incoming wire is $13.00, waived for Bankohana Cash Advantage and Bankohana Level II and Level III checking.

A fee already charged is a request. Bank of Hawaii can say no. The US list is US bank fee guides.

The line on your own statement is the one that counts. Upload it on the upload page. The PDF stays on your device. Expenvo lists the lines. It does not call the institution.
