Commerce Bank overdraft fee

Commerce Bank's personal checking fee schedule prints $36 for an overdraft when the account is overdrawn by $1 or more. Overdraft Grace Period, which is automatic on personal checking that is not already on another overdraft service, drops that fee if a deposit brings the available balance to $0 or more before 7:00 p.m. on the second business day. A transfer from a linked Commerce deposit account is $13, once a day. The wider list is US overdraft fees by bank. Every overdraft guide is on overdraft fee guides. A yearly total from numbers you type is on the bank fee calculator. It does not look up this institution.

What the checking schedule prints

Opened 24 October 2026. The personal checking fee schedule, form MK1939 12/25 prints $36 for Overdraft/Insufficient Funds. The note says the fee is charged when the account is overdrawn by $1 or more by a check, an ATM withdrawal, or another electronic payment. A transfer from a linked deposit account is $13 per occurrence, and an occurrence can happen only once a day.

The grace period page says you do not sign up for it. It applies to personal checking accounts that are not already covered by one of Commerce's account overdraft services. Deposit enough to bring the available balance to $0 or more before 7:00 p.m. on the second business day and the overdraft fee is $0. The page's example uses a $36 fee when that deposit is not made. The grace period does not apply when Commerce returns the item instead of paying it. Business days are Monday through Friday, not federal holidays.

The overdraft services page says a linked checking, savings, or money market transfer is $13 and covers the day's overdrafts in one transfer. A cash advance from a Commerce credit card is a different product: 5% of the advance with a $10 minimum, plus interest, in steps of $50.

A fee already charged is a request. Commerce can say no. The US list is US bank fee guides.

The line on your own statement is the one that counts. Upload it on the upload page. The PDF stays on your device. Expenvo lists the lines. It does not call the institution.

How to avoid the fee

If the account goes negative, deposit or transfer enough Commerce money to reach $0 before 7:00 p.m. on the second business day. A check deposited in the mobile app, or a transfer from a bank that is not Commerce, may not post in time. The grace page says so.

A linked Commerce deposit account costs $13 for the day's shortfall instead of $36 on each item. That is still a fee. The credit card option costs more. Keep a buffer so the account does not go $1 or more below zero.
