1st Source overdraft fee

1st Source Bank's personal fee schedule, effective July 2025, prints $36 when it pays an item that overdraws the account by more than $3, and $36 when it returns the item. At most three of those fees can post in one day. If the account is still overdrawn by more than $3 on the seventh business day in a row, the schedule adds $7 a day. The wider list is US overdraft fees by bank. Every overdraft guide is on overdraft fee guides. A yearly total from numbers you type is on the bank fee calculator. It does not look up this institution.

What the personal schedule prints

Opened 24 October 2026. The personal fee schedule effective July 2025 prints a $36 overdraft item fee when the item leaves the account overdrawn by more than $3. The $3 cushion does not apply to a health savings checking account. A returned item is also $36. The schedule caps overdraft item fees and returned item fees at three a day, combined. Starting on the seventh business day in a row overdrawn by more than $3, it adds $7 a day.

The same schedule says everyday debit card and ATM overdrafts are not charged unless you opt in to Overdraft Privilege, which is not available on a health savings checking account. Checks, payments that use the account number, and automatic bill payments can still be charged unless you opt out of overdraft coverage completely. If you opt out completely, items are returned and the $36 returned item fee can apply.

A Carefree line of credit is optional and needs approval. The schedule prints a $24 fee once a year on the anniversary. The overdraft help page repeats the $36 item fees, the $7 daily fee after seven business days, and the $24 yearly line.

A fee already charged is a request. 1st Source can say no. The US list is US bank fee guides.

The line on your own statement is the one that counts. Upload it on the upload page. The PDF stays on your device. Expenvo lists the lines. It does not call the institution.

LineWhat the schedule prints
Overdraft item, more than $3 short$36
Returned item$36

Overdrawn by $3 or lessNo overdraft item fee, except health savings checking
Still short by more than $3 on day 7$7 a day
Carefree line of credit$24 a year, if approved

How to avoid the fee

Keep the account within $3 of zero if you want the cushion on an ordinary checking account. That cushion is not on a health savings checking account. Bring the balance back up before the seventh business day so the $7 daily fee does not start.

Leave Overdraft Privilege off if you want everyday debit card and ATM withdrawals declined instead of paid. A Carefree line moves money from a credit line and costs $24 a year, which is less than one $36 item fee, but it is still a fee and it needs approval.
