What an Uber charge means on your statement

People look up lines such as UBER *TRIP, UBER *EATS, and Uber One because that is the text on the statement. Uber's help pages do not print those exact lines. They tell you how to check the charge in the app.

What Uber says to check

Uber's page for an unrecognized charge says to review a pending charge first. A pending charge may be an authorization hold. Uber says authorization holds are canceled within a few business days, and some banks take longer. A hold can show when you add a payment method or when you have not used Uber in a while. Uber's separate pending charge page says the temporary charge is removed when the trip is complete, or taken off the fare, and that some banks take a few days.

Next, Uber says to ask whether a friend, coworker, or family member used your account or your card. Then check trip or order history. Uber says the charge may be an updated fare, a cancellation fee, or a tip. A cancellation fee, Uber says, pays the driver for the time spent getting to you. The cancellation rules depend on your area, and Uber points you to the local policy.

Uber One

Uber One is a membership for Uber rides and Uber Eats. Uber's What is Uber One page lists monthly memberships at $9.99 and annual memberships at $96. That page does not name a country and does not say USD or CAD, so do not treat those figures as the price on your own account. The price you agreed to is in the Uber app. A different Uber help page shows a euro price. That is not the page to use for a US or Canadian statement.

If you still do not recognize it
