Bank of America foreign transaction fee

Two Bank of America credit card agreements print a foreign transaction fee of 3% of the transaction. They are the Unlimited Cash Rewards agreement and the Unlimited Cash Rewards Secured agreement. A different Bank of America card can print a different number. The Travel Rewards card page opened on 19 October 2026 did not print a percent, so this page does not treat 3% as every Bank of America card.

The 3% on these two agreements

Opened 20 October 2026. Each pricing table prints Foreign Transaction as 3% of the transaction. In the agreement, a foreign transaction is any transaction made in a foreign currency. If you make one, Bank of America assesses the foreign transaction fee. The fee amount is the one in the pricing table.

Visa or Mastercard converts the foreign currency into US dollars, depending on which network is on the card. Visa uses a rate it selects from wholesale currency markets, or a government mandated rate. Mastercard uses wholesale market rates or government mandated rates. The rate on the processing date can differ from the rate on the transaction date or the posting date. That conversion is separate from the 3% fee.

The same pricing tables print several cash advance fees at 5% of the transaction: ATM, cash equivalent, check cash advance, direct deposit, over the counter, and same day online. A late payment fee is up to $41. Those are not the foreign transaction fee. Cash advance interest on other Bank of America offers is on cash advance fees and interest.
