What an Evo, Modo, Zipcar, Lime, or Bird charge means
A car share or scooter line is the trip, a membership, or a penalty. It is not an Uber fare and it is not a bank fee. Evo, Modo, Communauto, Zipcar, Lime, and Bird each set their own prices. This page quotes only figures that were visible on the page opened 19 October 2026. A price the page left blank is not filled in.

Evo and Modo
Evo's rates page says the prices are effective 1 March 2026. The per minute rate is $0.49. The per hour rate is $17.99. The per day rate is $104.99. The all access fee is $1.85 per trip. A 3 day rate is $264.99. A 5 day rate is $424.99. Rates are subject to GST and PST where they apply. If you use Evo for 8 hours or more, the page adds a $1.50 Passenger Vehicle Rental Tax for the first 8 hours and then for every consecutive 24 hour period. Gas, insurance, and parking are included in the driving rates. Registration is $35. BCAA members get free registration and 10 percent off driving rates, up to $110 a year. The annual car share operator fee is $2.
Evo's service fees, effective 8 November 2021, include a YVR drop off of $5, excessive cleaning of $150, unauthorized parking of $300 plus a loss of use fee, an unsecured vehicle fee of $100, a relocation fee of $50 plus lot fees, damage up to $250, towing of a $150 processing fee plus the tow cost, a parking ticket charge of $35 plus the ticket, a drained battery fee of $100, loss of use at $104.99 times the number of days, an unauthorized driver fee of $200, a late return of $150 on Evo Return only, and a cancellation fee up to 50 percent of the booking on Evo Return only. Match the fee name on the invoice to that row before you call it a driving charge.
Modo's plans page prints three memberships. Modo Plus is a one time share purchase of $500, returned when you leave, plus a $1 a year admin fee. Modo Monthly has no share purchase and a $6 a month admin fee. The page says Monthly rates are slightly higher and that Monthly members do not vote. Modo for Business has an optional $500 share, a $1 a year admin fee, and no monthly fee. You pay when you drive. The co-op innovation fee is $1 per trip for an EV and $3 for a non-EV. Distance is 35 cents per kilometre. A flex return, leaving the end time open, is $3. Between 9 p.m. and 7 a.m. you pay for a maximum of 3 hours. Day Tripper starts at $100 a day for Daily Drives and includes up to 500 km. A fuel surcharge of $0.01 per kilometre applies for each $0.10 per litre over a $2.10 baseline, and EVs are exempt. The hourly rate table on the page did not render as a clean grid, so this guide does not invent an hourly dollar.
Communauto and Zipcar
Communauto's Ontario rates page says FLEX service is in Hamilton, Ottawa-Gatineau, and Toronto, and that Toronto uses its own fee schedule. Choosing a plan is mandatory. Plans with a monthly membership fee need a 12 month commitment, and those monthly fees are non-refundable. Gas and maintenance are included. Taxes are extra. A FLEX trip is billed at the lower of the FLEX rate and the station-based rate for your plan. If the station-based rate is the one applied, a minimum of 4 hours is charged. A station-based vehicle has no minimum number of billed hours, and the minimum reservation is 30 minutes. The per minute and per hour cells on that page did not render as numbers, and the fee PDF did not open, so this guide does not print a Communauto minute price.
Numbers that did render: online reservation changes are free. A phone reservation or change is $1.50 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and $2.50 in the evening. Trips longer than 28 days add $10 per extra day. The family refundable bond is $750. Each additional driver is $3.75 a month. The page's example says a family of three on Value Extra is $37.50 a month instead of $90, which is $30 times 3. If your credit card includes collision coverage, the page says the damage protection cost per driver falls to $3.50 a month with no yearly commitment. Long distance trips add $15 an hour for each extra hour, capped at the cost of an extra day. Ontario phone is 1-855-742-7399. Ottawa local is 613-798-1900.
Zipcar's home page says a non-refundable $25 application fee applies when you submit the application. The first month offer with the code MONTHOFF is a promotion for new members on the monthly plan. Zipcar says it can change or revoke that discount. Starting rates on the page are estimates. The page says actual prices vary and that you can review the estimated reservation cost before you confirm. This guide does not copy an hourly rate the home page did not print. Gas or charging at the pump is $0 on Zipcar's included list. That is Zipcar's sentence, not a promise about a parking ticket.
Lime and Bird
Lime's ride cost article, updated 5 August 2026, says Lime charges a fixed unlock cost plus a per minute rate while the vehicle is unlocked. Rates vary by location and time of day. Ride time is rounded up to the next full minute. A pass or subscription can use different terms. See the rate in the app before the ride, by tapping the vehicle or scanning the QR code. Some cities add a permit fee or a local cost, and the article says you can see that amount before you start. The ride continues, and charges continue, until the app confirms the ride has ended and the vehicle is locked. Lime's article does not print one national unlock dollar. Use the amount in the app for that city.
Bird's cost to ride article says the price depends on the city and the local currency, and that taxes and compliance fees may apply. To see the price: open the app, go to the Payment section, and be inside the operating zone shown in blue. European and Middle Eastern markets include taxes and fees in the final ride price. The Bird Access page describes a reduced price for eligible low income riders in Seattle, Atlanta, New York City, and San Antonio, and it does not print a monthly dollar. This guide does not add one. An Uber or Lyft fare is a different charge, on what an Uber charge means and what a Lyft charge means.
Keep the trip receipt next to the card line. A penalty such as Evo's cleaning fee is larger than a minute rate and has its own name. Upload the statement on Expenvo. The PDF stays on your device. Expenvo lists the lines. It does not sign in to the bank or the company, and it does not cancel a plan. How to cancel a subscription is for a plan that renews. A single trip does not renew. How to read a statement PDF shows the date and the amount.
