What a Costco membership charge means on your statement
A Costco line near the start of the month is often the yearly membership, not a warehouse purchase. Costco.com prints the membership dollars and what a $0 notice means. It does not print one fixed card descriptor for every bank. The name on the statement usually includes Costco. Confirm the renewal in the Costco account.

What the dollar can be
Opened 16 October 2026. Costco's charge page, published 22 August 2025, says a charge from Costco on a Visa or Mastercard for approximately $65 or $130, around the first or second day of the month, is most likely automatic renewal of the membership. A $65 charge is a Gold Star or Business membership. A $130 charge is an Executive membership, before applicable sales tax.
Costco's auto renewal page, published 12 August 2026, says the card on file is charged on the first day of the renewal month. The amounts it calls current are $65 per year for Gold Star and Business, plus an additional $65 per year for Executive ($130 total), and $65 per year for each affiliate business member, plus applicable taxes. Costco says the fees can change. These figures are from Costco.com. That page does not print a separate Canada price.

A $0 notice is not the fee
Costco's $0 pre-authorization page, published 22 October 2024, says a "$0 Costco Annual Renewal" notice means Costco checked that the card is valid before the yearly fee. That temporary authorization goes away on its own. It is not the $65 or $130 membership charge.
How to stop the next renewal
Costco says you can cancel Auto Renewal at a membership counter, in the Costco.com account, by chat, or by calling 1-800-774-2678 at least 72 hours before the first day of the renewal month. To let the membership expire at the end of the current year, remove Auto Renew at least two business days before that first day. A change of membership type has the same two business day cutoff.
If you remove Auto Renewal within 48 hours of the renewal date, Costco says the card will likely be charged, and Costco will refund that charge to the card within two business days. A refund after an automatic renewal takes about 5 to 7 business days. Costco's refund form says a refunded US membership expires at the end of the month unless you renew at a warehouse or on Costco.com.
Upload the statement to Expenvo and it lists every subscription it finds. Expenvo does not cancel a Costco membership for you. Steps for stopping the next charge are on how to cancel a subscription you found on a statement.
