What a Dropbox charge means on your statement

A charge whose name includes Dropbox is often a Dropbox Plus, Professional, or Essentials plan. Dropbox's downgrade page does not print a card descriptor or a price. It does say the plan becomes Dropbox Basic at the end of the period you already paid, and how to confirm the next bill.

How to match the charge

Dropbox says you can cancel Plus, Professional, or Essentials any time. The account becomes free Dropbox Basic at the end of the current billing cycle, monthly or yearly, and Dropbox will not charge you again. Downgrading to Basic is not the same as deleting the account. Basic includes 2 GB. If you are over that quota, Dropbox says you may not be able to sync, upload, share, move, or preview, and Dropbox may delete files you own to get under the limit.

The page does not print a card descriptor. The name on a statement usually includes Dropbox. Billing dates are at dropbox.com/account/billing, and the next date is under Upcoming invoice. Dropbox says the email that confirms a cancel has the subject Dropbox Plan will not renew, from [email protected]. Match that email, or the billing page, to the date and the amount.

How to stop the next charge

On the website, Dropbox says to open dropbox.com, the avatar at the bottom left, Manage account, then Cancel plan. If Cancel plan is missing, the plan may have been bought on a phone, and Dropbox says to cancel in the app store. Deleting the Dropbox app does not cancel. Letting the card expire does not cancel either. Dropbox says the bank may move the payment to a new card.

You can also cancel by mail. In the United States, Canada, or Mexico, Dropbox's address is Dropbox, Inc., P.O. Box 77767, San Francisco, CA 94107. Elsewhere it is Dropbox International Unlimited Company, PO Box 13480, Dublin 2, Ireland. If you are charged before the letter is processed, Dropbox says those charges will not be refunded.

Upload the statement to Expenvo and it lists every subscription it finds. Expenvo does not cancel Dropbox for you. Steps for stopping the next charge are on how to cancel a subscription you found on a statement.

What do I get after I cancel?
Dropbox says the account becomes Dropbox Basic at the end of the billing cycle, with 2 GB. You are not charged again. Basic is not a deleted account.
Does deleting the app stop the bill?
No. Dropbox says deleting the app does not cancel, and an expired card may not cancel either, because the bank can move the payment to a new card.
