Eastern Bank overdraft fee
Eastern Bank's overdraft changes page says that on 1 July 2022 it eliminated returned item and nonsufficient funds fees, waives an overdraft fee when the end of day available balance is overdrawn by $50 or less, and charges at most one overdraft fee a day. That page does not print the dollar amount of the overdraft fee that remains. Eastern Premier Checking's own page says that account has no fees for overdrafts. What the overdraft pages print
Opened 23 October 2026. The changes page lists two dates. On 21 March 2022 Eastern eliminated automatic balance protection transfer fees, and eliminated the annual fee and cash advance fees on its cash reserve line of credit. On 1 July 2022 it eliminated returned item or nonsufficient funds fees, waived overdraft fees when a checking account's end of day available balance is overdrawn by $50 or less, and reduced the number of overdraft fees per day from five to one. The page does not print a dollar amount for the overdraft fee that can still be charged.
The consumer overdraft page says Standard Overdraft Coverage can pay checks, other debits that use the checking account number, and automatic bill payments. Accounts are eligible after 30 days, while they are brought back to a positive balance within 10 days of an overdraft, and while they do not incur 50 or more overdraft fees in any rolling 12 months. The bank typically does not pay an item that would overdraw the available balance by more than $500. ATM and everyday debit card transactions are not paid into overdraft unless you opt in. The phone number on that page is 1-800-EASTERN (327-8376).
Checking prices are on the checking accounts page. Eastern Free Checking needs $25 to open, has a $0 monthly fee, and has no minimum balance. Eastern eZ Checking needs $50 to open and is $0 or $10 a month. The fee is waived by enrolling in eStatements and making 15 debit card purchases, or by keeping an average balance of $1,500 or more. Eastern Premier Checking needs $500 to open, has a $0 monthly fee, and requires a $25,000 combined monthly balance. The Premier page says that account has no fees for overdrafts, stop payments, wire transfers, and other services.
A fee already charged is a request. Eastern Bank can say no. The US list is US bank fee guides.
