Laurentian Bank overdraft protection fee

Laurentian overdraft protection is optional cover up to a limit the bank approves. The product page prints $5.00 in a month you use it, and no fee in a month you do not. The monthly chequing package is a different charge.

What the product page prints

Opened 21 October 2026. Laurentian Bank's overdraft protection page says the service covers cheques, pre-authorized debits, and other transactions, up to a maximum amount, so you can avoid NSF fees and other penalties when a payment would otherwise bounce. The protection amount is between $250 and $1,500. Once it is set up, the page says it is always available. It is subject to credit approval.

The fee line is $5.00 per month. Footnote 1 says pricing is in effect as of 12 March 2026 and is subject to change. There is no fee when you do not use it. The same footnote says the fee is free with the Gold Service package, the Privilege Program, and the Senior Citizen Program Indispensable option. Interest is charged on the overdraft amount you use. Footnote 3 points to the My Money guide for that rate and for other banking fees. This page does not copy a percent from the savings advertisement on the same screen. That advertisement is a high-interest savings rate, not the overdraft rate.

The monthly package fees for Basic, Preferred, and Unlimited are on how to waive the Laurentian Bank monthly fee. Those package prices are not this $5.00. The big-bank overdraft table does not include Laurentian. It is on Canada overdraft fees by bank.

This is not the NSF line

The page describes overdraft protection as a way to avoid an NSF fee when the payment stays inside the limit. It does not print the dollar Laurentian charges when an item is returned. That returned-item dollar is not filled in here. If a statement shows an NSF line, ask Laurentian which fee posted. The comparison table of banks that do print an NSF dollar is on Canada NSF fees by bank.

Questions

How much is Laurentian overdraft protection?
The page prints $5.00 per month when you use it, and no fee when you do not. Pricing is in effect as of 12 March 2026. Gold Service, the Privilege Program, and the Senior Citizen Program Indispensable option are free on that footnote.
What limit does Laurentian print?
Between $250 and $1,500, subject to credit approval. The page says that once it is set up, the protection is always available.
Is the savings rate on that page the overdraft interest?
No. The percent next to the high-interest savings account is a savings rate. Overdraft interest is charged on the amount you use, and the page points to the My Money guide for that rate.
