Signature guarantee fees at US banks
A signature guarantee is a stamp a bank puts on a form, often when securities are transferred. It is not a notary, and it is not a letter that confirms your balance. This page is the dollar, or the missing dollar, on each schedule opened 20 October 2026. Notary fees are on [notary fees at US banks](/guides/notary-fees-at-us-banks). A balance letter is on [certificate of balance fees](/guides/certificate-of-balance-fee).

What the schedules print
Opened 20 October 2026. A medallion stamp and a notary stamp are different services even when the same branch offers both. The line on your own statement is the one that counts. Upload it on the upload page. The PDF stays on your device. Expenvo lists the lines. It does not sign in to the bank.
| Bank | Fee the page prints | What the same page also says |
|---|---|---|
| Citizens | $0 for a customer | Personal deposit guide, revised October 2026. The line is Signature Guarantee (customer). The same page prints Notary Service for a customer at $0. The guide does not print a non-customer signature guarantee dollar. |
| Webster Bank | $2.00 | Consumer fee schedule file FN00886, dated 03/2023. That is the file at this address on 20 October 2026. It is not a 2026 revision. Confirm the date on the PDF before you treat $2.00 as today's price. The line does not say it is limited to customers. |
| Chase | No dollar on the personal fee schedule | Additional Banking Services and Fees, effective 14 June 2026, does not list a signature guarantee. That is not a statement that the stamp is free. The document does not print the price. |
Do not copy one stamp onto another
Citizens prices the customer signature guarantee and the customer notary at the same $0, on two lines. Webster's $2.00 is only the signature guarantee line in that 03/2023 file. A branch that notarizes a document for free can still charge for a medallion, or the other way around. Ask which stamp the form requires before you stand in line.
Questions
- Is a signature guarantee the same as a notary?
- No. A notary witnesses a signature. A signature guarantee is the stamp used when a transfer agent asks for a guarantor, often for securities. Citizens prints both, each at $0 for a customer, as separate lines.
- Does Chase charge for a signature guarantee?
- The personal fee schedule effective 14 June 2026 does not print a dollar. This page does not fill that gap from another website.
- Is Webster's $2 from a current 2026 schedule?
- The file at Webster's consumer fee schedule address is FN00886, dated 03/2023, and it prints $2.00. Check the date on the PDF you download. An older file is not a promise that the branch still charges $2.00.
