Credit card late payment fees by issuer (US)

A late fee is what the issuer charges when the minimum payment is not in on time. The first time and the next time are often different amounts. The issuer also caps the fee so it is not larger than the minimum that was due. These rows are one named agreement each, opened 16 October 2026. Your own agreement controls your account.

Late fee on one named agreement

Opened 16 October 2026. Each row is one named agreement or offer, not every card from that issuer. A different card from the same issuer can print a different number. Capital One is not in the table. The consumer Quicksilver pages opened that day did not print a late fee, and the disclosure that did print one was a Spark business card.

A late fee is not an annual fee. Annual fees are on how to get a credit card annual fee waived. Cash advance and balance transfer fees are on their own pages.

Capital One is left out. A Spark business disclosure printed a late payment penalty fee, and that is a business card. The consumer Quicksilver pages opened on 16 October 2026 did not print a late fee dollar.

Do not copy a number from a different PDF onto one of these rows. Other Chase files print a different maximum. This page uses COL00095 only.

Questions

Is the late fee the same on every card from that issuer?
No. Each row is one named agreement or offer opened on 16 October 2026. A different card from the same company can print a different fee.
Why is Capital One missing?
The Capital One disclosure that printed a late fee was a Spark business card. The consumer Quicksilver pages opened the same day did not print a late fee dollar.
Can the late fee be larger than the minimum payment?
The Chase, Amex EveryDay, Citi, Discover, and Bank of America documents in the table each say the late fee will not exceed the minimum that was due. The Wells Fargo Active Cash terms print Up to $40 and do not print that sentence.
Does Expenvo remove a late fee?
No. Expenvo can show a fee that is already on a statement. Asking the issuer to remove it is a request. The issuer can say no.
