ACH codes PPD, WEB, and CCD, and what PPD ID means
PPD, WEB, and CCD are Standard Entry Class codes in an ACH file. Nacha's ACH file guide, opened 17 October 2026, says what each code is for. A line that also says PPD ID or WEB ID is pointing at an identification field, which is not the same field as the company name.

What the three codes are
Nacha says each ACH application has a Standard Entry Class code. The code generally indicates whether the transfer affects a consumer account or a corporate account, whether it is a single entry or a recurring entry, and which record format carries the payment. You will not always see the three letters on the paper statement. They are in the file the bank received. When they do show up, this is the meaning Nacha publishes.
PPD, also written PPD+, is Prearranged Payment or Deposit. Nacha describes it as a single or a recurring ACH credit or debit sent by an originator to a consumer account to make or collect a payment, where authorization is obtained in writing. Only one addenda record can be attached. Nacha's table marks it corporate to consumer. The authorization column on that table lists direct deposit, oral or nonwritten, direct payments, and written. Direct deposit of pay is a common PPD credit. A company debiting a consumer account on a written authorization is a common PPD debit.
WEB is Internet Initiated or Mobile Entries. Nacha splits it. A credit WEB entry is a person to person entry sent for one natural person to another, or between accounts of the same natural person. A debit WEB entry is an ACH entry whose authorization was obtained via the internet or a wireless network, for example a mobile device, except for an oral authorization via a telephone call. Telephone debits are a different code, TEL. WEB can be a single entry or a recurring entry. Nacha marks it corporate to consumer. For a credit WEB entry, Nacha says there is no authorization by the receiver. For a debit WEB entry, the authorization must be similarly authenticated.
CCD, also written CCD+, is Corporate Credit or Debit. Nacha describes a single or a recurring ACH credit or debit to a corporate account. Originators commonly use it to pay vendors, to concentrate funds from outlying accounts, or to fund payroll, petty cash, or other disbursement accounts. One addenda record can carry payment related information. Nacha marks it corporate to corporate. The authorization column says an agreement is required for transfers between companies, and that written authorization is implied.
How an ACH debit looks as money leaving a consumer account, and how to stop one, is on ACH debit and pre-authorized debit. This page is only the three codes and the ID fields. The full list of these short names is on statement codes.
What PPD ID and WEB ID refer to
On a PPD or CCD entry, Nacha names a field Identification Number. It sits in positions 40 to 54 and is 15 characters. Nacha says it is optional, and that it identifies the transaction to the receiver. A bank that prints PPD ID is often printing this field, or the company identification next to it. They are not the same box in the file.
Company Identification is a different field, on the batch header, positions 41 to 50, 10 characters. Nacha says it is used to identify the originator and that the originating bank assigns it. Company Name is yet another field, 16 characters, and Nacha says it is the name of the originator known and recognized by the receiver. Company Entry Description is 10 characters. The originator fills it in to describe the purpose of the entry, though Nacha says some codes require a specific value. If the statement shows a short company name plus a purpose such as PAYROLL or INSURANCE, those two fields are the ones Nacha defines for that text.
On a WEB entry the matching 15 character field is called Individual Identification Number, also positions 40 to 54. Nacha says that for person to person WEB credit entries this field is required and contains the name of the consumer originator. For WEB debit entries the field is optional and is used at the originator's discretion. A WEB ID on a statement can be that name, for a credit, or an optional reference, for a debit. It is still not the 10 character company identification.
WEB also has a payment type code of two characters. Nacha says recurring TEL and WEB entries must contain R. A single entry WEB must contain S. Beginning 17 September 2021, Nacha says this field may also carry codes that matter only to the originator, and that there is no standardized interpretation for that value. Do not invent a meaning for a stray letter in that position.
What similarly authenticated means
Nacha's note under the code table says the similarly authenticated standard allows a signed, written authorization to be provided electronically. An electronic authorization may meet the requirement that the authorization be in writing if it is displayed on a computer screen or other visual display that lets the consumer read it. It must be readily identifiable as an authorization and must have clear and readily understandable terms. That is the bar for a WEB debit you started on a website or in an app. An oral phone authorization is TEL, not WEB.
The addenda, if there is one, is 80 characters of payment related information. Nacha says it may or may not be displayed to you, depending on the bank and on whether you are looking at online banking or a statement. PPD, CCD, and WEB allow one addenda. If the statement is only the company name, the rest of the explanation may be in the bank's transaction detail, not on the PDF line.
A code tells you the kind of payment. It does not, by itself, say the payment was wrong. Match the company name Nacha says the receiver should recognize, the entry description, and the amount. If the debit was not authorized, use the stop and dispute steps on the ACH debit guide.
Upload the statement on Expenvo. The PDF stays on your device. Expenvo lists the lines so you can match a short name to a date and an amount. It does not call the bank, and it does not dispute a charge.
