What an Afterpay charge means on your statement

An Afterpay line on a bank statement can be one installment, or several installments due the same day and charged together. Afterpay's US help pages do not print a card descriptor. Match the amount in the app or in the payment email.

Why the amount can be larger than one installment

Opened 17 October 2026. Afterpay's page I've been charged an amount different to what I was expecting says to check the installments due that day, including the amount. For Pay in 4, if several installments are due the same day on the same eligible payment method, Afterpay may bundle them into one transaction. The example on that page is 3 installments of $25.00, which show as one $75.00 line.

The payment confirmation email lists which installments and which orders were paid. Check spam. If the installments still do not add up to the bank line, Afterpay says to write from the app with the amount, the date, and the last 4 digits of the card. The pages opened here do not print a statement descriptor. The name usually includes Afterpay. Confirm it in the app.

A late fee, without a dollar amount

Afterpay's late fee page says the fee is charged because a scheduled payment was not made within the applicable grace period. It does not print the dollar or the number of days in that grace period, so this guide does not invent either one. You can pay by logging in or by using the link in a notification.

The missed payment page says Afterpay pauses the account right away. You cannot buy anything else until payments are up to date. You may incur late fees, and the spending limit may go down. Payments overdue for a long time may lead Afterpay to decline or restrict the account. The help center footer says late fees may apply and a finance fee may apply to some transactions. It does not print those dollars.

If you do not recognize it

Afterpay's billing error page covers orders up to 120 days old. Contact the merchant first when the error is about an order. Then raise a dispute in the app. Include the dollar amount, the type of charge, the date, why you think it is wrong, and receipts if you have them.

For goods that have not arrived, Afterpay's dispute page says to contact the retailer first and allow 7 calendar days. You can open one dispute per order, within 120 days of the purchase date. In the app: My Afterpay, Orders, Active Orders, the three dots, then Goods not received. On the website: the order, then Get Help, then Goods not received. Chat is in the app 24 hours a day. The phone on these pages is (833) 844-8095, daily from 8 AM to 9:30 PM ET. Upload the statement on Expenvo. The PDF stays on your device. Steps for stopping the next charge are on how to cancel a subscription you found on a statement.

Questions

Why is the Afterpay line bigger than one payment?
Afterpay says Pay in 4 installments due the same day on the same payment method may be bundled. Its example is three $25.00 installments shown as one $75.00 charge. The confirmation email breaks that total down.
How much is an Afterpay late fee?
The late fee page opened on 17 October 2026 does not print a dollar amount. It says the fee applies when a scheduled payment is missed inside the grace period. Pay from the account or from the link in Afterpay's message.
Where do I dispute an Afterpay order?
Contact the merchant first. Billing errors on orders up to 120 days old can then be raised in the app. Goods that have not arrived use My Afterpay, Orders, Active Orders, then Goods not received, after 7 calendar days with the retailer.
