What a Klarna charge means on your statement

A Klarna line is a payment you made through Klarna, or a charge Klarna says you did not authorize. Klarna's US help pages do not print the exact letters a bank puts on the statement. Match the date and the amount in the Klarna app before you treat it as fraud.

Check it before you report it

Opened 17 October 2026. Klarna's US page I don't recognize a charge says to report an unauthorized charge. Before that, check four things. You are the only person in the household who used the account. You did not choose Klarna at checkout without noticing. You did not get an order confirmation or a Klarna email around that date. It is not a charge for an earlier order billed separately, and it is not an authorization hold for a pending purchase.

The page does not print a statement descriptor. The name on the statement usually includes Klarna. Confirm the purchase in the app. Do not invent a city code or a phone number the page does not show.

How to report it in the app

Klarna's report a fraud attempt page says you can pause payments by reporting the purchase in the app. Go to Payments, select the purchase, choose Report a problem, then I suspect identity theft, and follow the prompts. Payments are paused while Klarna investigates. Klarna says to watch for messages after the report.

Klarna also says to report it to the authorities, to report the card or the transaction to the bank that issued it, and to send Klarna the police report number when you have it.

The 60 day window, and a bank fee

Klarna's US buyer protection terms say a US resident who finds a purchase made in their name without authorization must file with Klarna within 60 days of the date the charge first appears on the credit card, bank statement, or Klarna statement. Include the merchant, the date, the order number, a description, the payment method, and the date it appeared, if you have them. Extra evidence is due within 5 days of Klarna's request, or the claim may be declined.

You can claim with Klarna or dispute the charge with the card or the bank, not both. If Klarna receives a chargeback after you filed with them, Klarna cancels the claim. A fee your bank charged, such as an insufficient funds fee, is disputed with the bank, not with Klarna. Upload the statement on Expenvo. The PDF stays on your device. Steps for stopping the next charge are on how to cancel a subscription you found on a statement.

How do I pause a Klarna payment I did not make?
In the app, open Payments, select the purchase, choose Report a problem, then I suspect identity theft. Klarna says payments are paused while it investigates.
