What a Slack charge means on your statement
A Slack charge is a paid workspace plan, billed per active member. Slack's own billing example uses $8.75 USD per member per month for Pro. A lower number on the pricing page can be a promotion or a prorated credit. The line on your card is the charge Slack already made.

What the pricing pages print
Opened 19 October 2026. Slack's pricing page prints the Free plan at $0 USD. For Pro it prints $8.75 USD per user per month when paying monthly, and it also showed $4.38 beside that figure. Salesforce's Slack pricing page prints Business+ at $18 USD per user per month when billed monthly, and it also showed $9 beside that figure. Enterprise+ has no public price on that page. You contact sales.
The Salesforce page says the lower figures are 50% off for 3 months if you buy Pro or Business+ online within the first 7 days of creating the team. It says the discount does not apply to annual plans or to Enterprise+, cannot be combined with another offer, and that Slack may end or change the offer before you redeem it. After the 3 months, the page says standard pricing applies. Do not treat $4.38 or $9 as the lasting price unless your invoice says so.
Free includes 90 days of message history and up to 10 app integrations on the pricing page. Paid plans are what produce a card charge. A workspace can be billed in a currency other than US dollars. This guide only copies the USD prices those pages printed. If your receipt is in another currency, use the receipt.
Who is billed
Slack's fair billing policy says you are billed for active members on plans bought on the Slack website and paid by credit card or self-serve invoice. Paid roles are owners, admins, full members, and multi-channel guests. Single-channel guests and bots are free. An invited member is billed as active starting the day they accept.
A member who has not used Slack in over 28 days is inactive. Slack says it adds a prorated credit for the unused time. The credit has no cash value, cannot be transferred, and expires when the paid plan ends. If everyone is inactive, Slack says you are billed for a minimum of one member unless you downgrade to the free version. Deactivating a member is not the same as canceling the workspace.
The help article's Pro example is $8.75 USD per member per month. Adding a member with 20 days left in a 30 day month is ($8.75 divided by 30) times 20, which Slack calculates as $5.83. A member deactivated with 15 days left produces a credit of ($8.75 divided by 30) times 15, which Slack calculates as $4.38. That $4.38 is a credit example. It is the same number the pricing page showed as a promotion. They are not the same thing. Read the invoice to see which one you were charged.
When the card is charged
Slack says the first credit card charge appears the day you buy a paid plan. Later charges are on the monthly renewal date if you pay monthly, on the annual renewal date if you pay annually, and on the last day of the month if you pay annually and still owe for members added during the month. A monthly credit card plan bills new members the following month. An annual credit card plan bills the rest of the year at the end of the month. An annual invoice that grows past the seats already paid is invoiced once a calendar quarter.
The fair billing page does not print the letters that appear on a bank statement. Look for Slack in the description, then match the amount to the workspace invoice. A charge that says Slack can also be a prorated add for new members, not a full renewal. How to find subscriptions on a statement is the wider search. A Zoom renewal is a different company, on what a Zoom charge means.
How to stop the next charge
Downgrade to the free plan if you want the paid billing to stop. Slack says the minimum of one member applies until you do that, even if nobody is active. The pricing page says you can pay any plan by credit card, and that an annual plan may be eligible for an invoice paid by ACH or wire. Changing the card or the billing cycle is done in the workspace billing settings by an owner or a billing admin.
A charge that already posted is not undone by a downgrade. Ask Slack about a refund with the invoice. This page does not promise one. Steps for a subscription you found on a statement are on how to cancel a subscription. Expenvo does not sign in to Slack and does not cancel the workspace.
Upload the statement on Expenvo. The PDF stays on your device. Expenvo lists the lines. It does not sign in to the bank or the card company, and it does not cancel a card or a purchase.
Questions
- Is Slack Pro $4.38 or $8.75?
- Slack's pricing page showed both on 19 October 2026. The fair billing article uses $8.75 as the monthly Pro price. The Salesforce page says $4.38 can be a 3 month discount with limits. The $4.38 in the help article is also a prorated credit example. Use the invoice.
- Does Slack bill every member?
- No. Owners, admins, full members, and multi-channel guests are paid when they are active. Single-channel guests and bots are free. Someone who has not used Slack in over 28 days is inactive and can produce a credit, not a new full charge.
- When will the next Slack charge hit the card?
- Slack says the first charge is on the purchase day, then the monthly or annual renewal date. Extra members on an annual card plan can post on the last day of the month. The workspace billing page has the renewal date.
- Does downgrading refund a charge that already posted?
- Slack's pages say a downgrade stops paid billing going forward, and that credits for inactive members apply to future payments. They do not say a posted card charge is automatically returned. Ask Slack with the invoice.
