What a NordVPN, ExpressVPN, or Surfshark charge means

A NordVPN, ExpressVPN, or Surfshark line is a VPN subscription, or a bundle those companies sell next to the VPN. It keeps charging until you cancel it in the place that bills you. Deleting the app is not the cancel button. None of the cancel pages opened on 17 October 2026 print a current plan price or one required card code.

NordVPN

NordVPN's cancel article says a plan bought in the Google Play Store, the Apple App Store, or the Amazon App Store is canceled in that store. A plan bought directly from NordVPN is canceled in the Nord Account so it does not renew on the next billing date. The steps on that page are: log in, open the billing tab, click cancel next to auto-renewal, then select cancel auto-renewal. The status changes to off, and a confirmation email goes to the registered address. The same steps cover NordPass, NordLocker, a dedicated IP, or a bundle.

The article points to a separate refund policy and does not print a refund window of its own. Do not assume a number of days. Open that policy in the account, or ask NordVPN. If the statement says Apple or Google, use APPLE.COM/BILL or GOOGLE*.

ExpressVPN

ExpressVPN says you cannot cancel inside the ExpressVPN app. You use the app store or the ExpressVPN website. If you paid on expressvpn.com with a card, PayPal, Apple Pay, or Google Pay, open My subscription, click Cancel subscription under Automatic renewal, and follow the prompts. If you do not see Cancel subscription, ExpressVPN says a recent renewal payment may have failed, and you can remove the saved payment method to stop further attempts. After you cancel, you are not billed for another cycle, and you can use the service until the last day of the current cycle.

For the Apple App Store or Google Play, ExpressVPN says to cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the free trial or the next billing date, or the account is billed for the selected plan. Subscriptions bought with Paymentwall or Bitcoin do not renew automatically, so there is nothing to cancel for the next cycle. ExpressVPN's renewal page says monthly plans renew on the same date each month, yearly plans renew once a year, and a 2 year offer renews yearly after the first 2 year period.

Surfshark

Surfshark's cancel article says auto-renewal can be canceled at any time, and access stays on until the end of the current billing period. For a plan bought from Surfshark: log in, click the email address, select Subscription, open Payments, click Cancel auto-renewal, and confirm. If that button is missing, the plan may have been bought in an app store. Apple, Google Play, and Amazon are canceled in those stores. Surfshark also says you can use its live chat.

The same article says canceling auto-renewal does not grant a refund. It stops the next payment. Refunds are not provided for the unused part of an active period. If you bought the service within the last 30 days and want a refund, Surfshark points you to its refund policy article. This page does not copy a dollar amount, because the cancel article does not print one.
