Interac e-Transfer fees by Canadian bank
An Interac e-Transfer fee is set by the bank, not by a national price. The overview of who charges it is on another page. This page is the dollar, or the free, each named account printed on 20 October 2026. A different package at the same bank can charge a different amount.

The fee each account page prints
Opened 20 October 2026. How Interac's own wholesale price differs from the fee on your statement is on Interac e-Transfer fees in Canada. Cancelling one that has not been deposited is on how to cancel an Interac e-Transfer. The line on your own statement is the one that counts. Upload it on the upload page. The PDF stays on your device. Expenvo lists the lines. It does not sign in to the bank.
| Account | What the page prints | What the same page also says |
|---|---|---|
| TD Student Chequing | Free | The fee table lists Interac e-Transfer as free, with unlimited transactions included. |
| TD Minimum Chequing | Send: no fee. Request: $0.50 or $1 | Sending money is listed as no fee. Requesting money is $0.50 when the request is up to $100, and $1.00 when it is over $100. A transfer can also count toward the 12 included transactions. |
| RBC Advantage Banking | Free | The account page says free Interac e-Transfer transactions are included, along with unlimited debit transactions. |
| Scotiabank Student Banking Advantage and Preferred Package | Unlimited, no separate dollar printed | The students page prints unlimited debit and Interac e-Transfer transactions on the Preferred Package for Students and Youth. The newcomer Preferred Package page prints the same unlimited line. Those pages do not print a per transfer dollar for other Scotia accounts, so this row does not invent one. |
| BMO Performance, Premium, and Practical | Unlimited, $3,000 daily maximum | The comparison prints unlimited Interac e-Transfer transactions per month on all three plans, with a $3,000 daily maximum. It does not print a per transfer fee, so this row does not add one. |
| CIBC Smart Account | $1.50, waived on the accounts the page lists | The Smart Account page says each Interac e-Transfer you send counts toward the monthly transaction count, and that the $1.50 fee for sending or requesting is waived on CIBC Smart Accounts, the Everyday Chequing Account, and for clients in Smart Start, Smart for Students, and the other programs that sentence names. Clients 65 and older do not pay the fee on any CIBC chequing account. |
Sending, requesting, and receiving
Sending money and requesting money are different lines on TD Minimum Chequing. A request up to $100 is not the same fee as a request over $100. Do not use the send fee for a request. Interac's own help page, cited on the overview guide, says depositing a transfer through online banking at a participating institution has no fee from Interac. Your bank can still have its own rule. The label on the statement wins.
A monthly package that says unlimited does not automatically include a wire or a draft. Those are different services, with their own pages. If the statement shows an Interac fee you did not expect, write the date, the amount, and the account package, and ask the bank which row applies. They can say the fee stands.
Questions
- Is there one Interac e-Transfer fee for all of Canada?
- No. Interac says the bank sets the customer fee. TD Student Chequing prints free. TD Minimum Chequing prints no fee to send and a fee to request. CIBC prints $1.50 and then lists accounts where that fee is waived.
- Does a free send include a request for money?
- Not on TD Minimum Chequing. That page splits them. Read the request row before you assume a request is free.
- Does an included transfer still count against my monthly transactions?
- It can. TD says the included count covers transactions, and CIBC says a send counts toward the monthly transaction count. A $0 Interac line and a transaction count are two different limits.
