What a TST* charge means on your statement

TST* followed by a restaurant name is a purchase at a restaurant that uses Toast to take payment. Toast's help page lists that code for restaurants reading their own bank statement.

Why the line looks like that

Toast's charge code page says charge codes come from the bank or the payment processor. In the table, TST*Restaurant Name means purchases from another Toast restaurant or from your own restaurant. For someone who ate there, that is a purchase at a restaurant using Toast. The name after TST* is the restaurant name Toast prints.

The rest of that table is about the restaurant's own account: software fees, deposits, payroll, and chargebacks, under codes such as TOAST, INC. and CCD. Those are not the diner's meal charge. Toast says codes are assigned by the processor and the bank, and that variations exist which are not in the table.

How to work out which visit it was

Match the restaurant name after TST* to a visit, then match the date and the amount. Toast says the date on a bank statement is the posting date, which can differ from the day you paid. The page's Orders Report is a report inside Toast for the restaurant, not a page the diner signs in to. The page does not print a separate US or Canada statement name.

If you do not recognize it

Toast says that if a code is not in the table, it may be specific to the processor or the bank, and to check with your bank. The customer care steps on that page are for the restaurant, with the charge code, the date, and the amount. They are not a diner cancel menu, and this guide does not invent one.

A meal is usually a one time purchase, not a subscription. Upload the statement to Expenvo and it lists repeating subscriptions separately from one time charges. Expenvo does not dispute a restaurant charge for you.
