ATM fee rebates by US bank
An ATM fee rebate is money your bank puts back after another machine charges you. It is not the fee your own bank adds, and it is not the same as using a surcharge free network. This page is the rebate each institution printed on 20 October 2026. The fee a bank charges for its own out of network withdrawal is on a different page.

What each institution says it pays back
Opened 20 October 2026. The dollar your own bank charges, when it charges one, is on out of network ATM fees by US bank. Allpoint and MoneyPass, which skip the owner's surcharge inside their networks, are on how to avoid an out of network ATM fee. The line on your own statement is the one that counts. Upload it on the upload page. The PDF stays on your device. Expenvo lists the lines. It does not sign in to the bank.
| Account | Rebate the page prints | What the same page also says |
|---|---|---|
| Ally Bank Spending Account | Up to $10 per statement cycle | Ally says you receive up to $10 per statement cycle for fees charged at other ATMs nationwide. The help page says Ally does not charge a fee for any ATM in the US, reimburses up to $10 at the end of the statement cycle, and will not reimburse fees from using the debit card outside the US. Allpoint and MoneyPass ATMs in the US are described as no fee. |
| Schwab Bank Investor Checking | Unlimited ATM fee rebates worldwide | The checking page says unlimited ATM fee rebates for cash withdrawals worldwide, with no foreign transaction fees. The disclosure says rebates apply to ATM cash withdrawals in local currency on the Schwab Bank Visa Platinum Debit Card. They do not include merchant or ATM fees on purchases, stamp purchases, balance inquiries, or dynamic currency conversion. Schwab says it uses its best effort to identify eligible fees and that it can modify or discontinue the rebate. |
| Fidelity Cash Management Account | ATM fees reimbursed | Footnote 2 on the overview says the account is automatically reimbursed for all ATM fees charged by other institutions when the Fidelity debit card is used at an ATM displaying the Visa, Plus, or Star logo. The credit posts the same day the fee is debited. Fidelity says it does not charge foreign transaction fees. If you choose to pay a foreign debit purchase in US dollars, the rate can differ from the market rate. The account agreement also reserves a right to limit use it calls abusive or excessive, including many small ATM withdrawals in 24 hours. |
| USAA Bank | Up to $10 per statement cycle | USAA says it does not charge ATM service fees and refunds up to $10 in ATM fees each monthly statement cycle for ATMs outside its preferred network. The refund shows on the statement as ATM Rebate. A 1% foreign transaction fee may apply. The checking page repeats the $10 refund. |
| SoFi Checking | No reimbursement | SoFi's fee footnote says Allpoint ATMs are not charged a SoFi fee, and third party fees at out of network ATMs are not subject to reimbursement. This row is here so a $0 SoFi monthly fee is not read as an ATM rebate. |
A rebate is not the same as a fee free machine
Capital One's 360 Checking page, opened the same day, says Capital One does not charge a fee for using an ATM outside its networks, and that the ATM owner may still charge. That page does not print a rebate of the owner's fee. Fee free Capital One, MoneyPass, and Allpoint machines are the way that page says you avoid the owner fee. This guide does not treat 360 Checking as a rebate account.
A rebate can show up later than the withdrawal. Ally describes a lump sum at the end of the statement cycle. Fidelity describes a credit the same day. USAA says to look for ATM Rebate on the statement. If Schwab does not identify a fee, the disclosure says to call. A missing rebate is a question for that institution. This page does not promise they will add it.
Questions
- Does an ATM rebate mean the withdrawal was free?
- Only up to the cap the bank prints, and only for the fees that page includes. Ally and USAA print $10 per statement cycle. Schwab and Fidelity describe a rebate without that $10 cap, with the limits in their disclosures. SoFi says it does not reimburse out of network fees.
- Will Ally refund an ATM fee from another country?
- Ally's help page says it will not reimburse fees from using the debit card outside the US. The $10 rebate on the Spending Account page is for other ATMs nationwide.
- Is a MoneyPass ATM the same as a rebate?
- No. MoneyPass and Allpoint are networks that say their own surcharge is skipped. A rebate is your bank paying you back for a fee another machine already charged.
