How to ask about a Citi Strata Premier annual fee
Citi Strata Premier is the card that used to be called Citi Premier. The pricing details on Citi's page print a $95 annual fee and no foreign transaction fee. A hotel benefit is a discount on a stay, not a line that removes the annual fee. Asking Citi to remove a fee already charged is a request. Citi can say no.

The fee on the card page
Opened 19 October 2026. The pricing details on the Citi Strata Premier card page print an annual fee of $95. The fee for foreign purchases is none. The cash advance fee is either $10 or 5% of the amount of each cash advance, whichever is greater. The balance transfer fee is either $5 or 5% of the amount of each transfer, whichever is greater. The variable APR for purchases and balance transfers is 20.24% to 28.24%, based on creditworthiness. The variable APR for cash advances is 29.49%. The variable penalty APR is up to 29.99%. The minimum interest charge is $0.50. The same page says there is no authorized user fee, and that you can add an authorized user at no additional cost.
Match the name on the statement. The offer text says a new account bonus is not available if you currently have or previously had a Citi Strata Premier or a Citi Premier account. An older statement can still say Premier. It is the same card family. How to ask about a card annual fee is the general page. These figures can change. If the statement and the public page disagree, use the statement and ask Citi which one applies.
A hotel benefit is not a fee waiver
The card page describes a $100 annual hotel benefit. Once per calendar year, Citi says you get $100 off a single hotel stay of $500 or more, excluding taxes and fees, when you book through cititravel.com or 1-833-737-1288. The benefit is applied at booking. That is a discount on a hotel stay. It is not a published waiver of the $95 annual fee. If both appear, write them as two different lines.
A cash advance fee and a balance transfer fee are also not the annual fee. They post when you take cash or move a balance. Do not multiply the $95 by 12. A refund of a fee that already posted is a different question, on can you get a credit card annual fee refunded when you cancel.
What to ask
Use the phone number on the statement if it is printed there. Have the date, the fee name, and the amount. Ask what the fee is for, and ask Citi to review it or remove it. They can say no. This page has no success rate, because a made up rate would be a guess. ThankYou redemptions on that page use 1-800-842-6596. That is the rewards line, not a promise that the same number reviews an annual fee.
If the answer is no, ask whether a product change is available on that account, and ask the last day you can close so the next annual fee is not charged. This page does not tell you to close the card. You can also send a complaint to the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau after you have Citi's answer. US bank fees links that step. Expenvo does not file the complaint. To see the fee on the PDF, use how to download a Citi statement.
Upload the statement on Expenvo. The PDF stays on your device. Expenvo lists the lines. It does not sign in to the bank or the card company, and it does not cancel a card or a purchase.
Questions
- Is Citi Premier the same card as Citi Strata Premier?
- Citi's offer text treats Citi Premier and Citi Strata Premier as the same history for the new account bonus. An older statement can still say Premier. Match the name on the statement to the $95 pricing block, and ask Citi if the names disagree.
- Does the $100 hotel benefit pay the annual fee?
- No. Citi describes $100 off one hotel stay of $500 or more, once a calendar year, booked through Citi Travel. That is not a waiver of the $95 annual fee.
- Is there a fee to add an authorized user?
- The card page opened 19 October 2026 says there is no authorized user fee. Check the current page and the statement, because Citi can change it.
- Will Citi remove an annual fee it already charged if I ask?
- They might, and they might not. Asking is a request. Nothing on this page says Citi has to waive a fee already on the statement.
