How to ask about a Hilton Honors Surpass fee

Hilton Honors American Express Surpass is not the no annual fee Hilton Honors card, and it is not the Aspire card. The Surpass card page prints $0 for the first year, then $150. The application terms page prints an annual fee of $150. Those two pages do not use the same sentence. Asking American Express to remove a fee already charged is a request.

Two official lines

Opened 19 October 2026. The Hilton Honors Surpass card page prints an annual fee of $0 introductory for the first year, then $150. The application terms print an annual fee of $150, a cash advance fee of $10 or 5% of the amount, whichever is greater, and no foreign transaction fee. The terms page does not repeat the first year $0 in that rates table. Ask American Express which table is on your account before you treat a charge as a mistake.

Hilton's own card list prints Surpass at $150 and a separate Hilton Honors card with no annual fee. Aspire is a different card on that list. A quarterly hotel credit on the Surpass page is a benefit with its own rules. It is not a waiver of the annual fee. How to ask about a Marriott Boundless fee is a different hotel card.

What to ask

Use the phone number on the statement if it is printed there. Have the date, the fee name, and the amount. Ask whether the charge is the annual fee for this card, a fee for an extra card, or a different product. Then ask the issuer to review the fee or remove it. They can say no.
