How to download an American Express statement PDF
American Express publishes different steps in the United States and in Canada. Download the PDF from the site that holds the card. Expenvo does not sign in to American Express, and the file stays on your device.
United States
The US page How do I access my transaction history and billing statements? says you view them in the online account. It says the previous two years of transactions can be sorted, filtered, and downloaded as a PDF, Excel, or CSV file. For a PDF of a statement, including an older archived statement, select that statement from the list. Archived statements are available online within 24 hours. A separate US page says online account tools include up to 7 years of past billing statements.
Choose PDF, not Excel or CSV, when Expenvo is the next step. A US dollar card stays in USD.
Canada
The Canadian page How do I access and receive my American Express Card statements? says, in the app, go to Overview, tap Statements, select the period, and tap Download Statement. Online, it says sign in to Online Services, then Statement, Export Statement Data, and download PDF statements.
The online statements page for Canada says you can download recent statements up to the last 6, and order older statements going back up to 7 years. Those ordered copies are available 24 hours later. How to read a statement PDF covers a locked PDF and one statement per file.
Questions
- Does Expenvo sign in to the bank and download the PDF for me?
- No. You download the PDF from the bank or card site. Expenvo reads that file on your device. It does not ask for the bank password.
- Can I upload a photo of the statement instead?
- A photo is harder to read. Use the PDF the bank creates, with text you can select. If the file asks for a password, download a copy that does not. Expenvo cannot open a locked PDF.
- What if the menu names do not match this page?
- Banks move buttons. Follow the official help page linked below. This guide is a reading of that page, not a second set of rules.
