Pay As You Go
A direct open of the Pay As You Go page was blocked by a browser check on 15 October 2026. The text retrieved from that same address is what this page uses, next to Vancity's Personal Service Charge Bulletin (PDF).
The product page lists the monthly fee as none. In person or by phone, including a withdrawal, a bill payment, or a transfer, is 70 cents a transaction. A debit card purchase, an ATM withdrawal, or an ATM transfer is 50 cents. Online and mobile bill payments, a mobile cheque deposit, and transfers made online or by phone are free. A cheque or a preauthorized payment is 50 cents. An Interac e-Transfer is 90 cents to send or request, and free to receive. Everyday transaction fees are calculated and charged at month end.
The bulletin lists Pay As You Go with no monthly package fee, and it lists Essential Chequing as a different account at $9.75 a month, waived if you keep $1,500 in the account at all times for the full calendar month. Do not mix that package into Pay As You Go.
Find a fee on the statement
A Pay As You Go month may show one combined transaction fee at month end, not a plan named monthly fee. Write the date, the printed name, and the amount. Ten debit purchases at 50 cents are $5. That result is arithmetic. It is not a quote from Vancity.
How fees show on a Canadian statement keeps a package fee and a per use fee apart.
What to ask Vancity
Use the phone number on the statement if it is printed there. Ask which account package is open, and which transactions were counted at 70 cents, 50 cents, or 90 cents. Then ask Vancity to review the charge. They can say no.
Expenvo can list a bank fee that is already on a statement. It does not call Vancity.
Questions
- Does Pay As You Go have a monthly fee?
- The product page lists the monthly fee as none. You still pay the per transaction amounts on that page. Essential Chequing is a different account.
- When are the transaction fees charged?
- Vancity says everyday transaction fees on this account are calculated and charged at month end.
- Will Vancity remove a fee it already charged if I ask?
- They might, and they might not. Asking is a request. Nothing on this page says Vancity has to waive a fee already on the statement.
