Senior chequing fee rebates at Canadian banks

A senior rebate is a discount on a named chequing account, at an age the bank prints. It is not the student offer and it is not the newcomer offer. This page is the monthly fee each bank printed for that age rule on 20 October 2026.

The monthly fee after the age rebate

Opened 20 October 2026. Everyday accounts without the age rebate are on monthly chequing account fees by bank. Student accounts are on Canadian student chequing account fees. The line on your own statement is the one that counts. Upload it on the upload page. The PDF stays on your device. Expenvo lists the lines. It does not sign in to the bank.

Opened 20 October 2026. Canadian dollars. The age and the account are part of the fee.

What the rebate leaves in place

A lower monthly fee is one line. TD still prints the balance rule beside the senior price. Scotiabank still prints the balance waiver beside the senior price. CIBC still counts transactions on Everyday Chequing after 18. BMO still says you pay fees that are not included in the plan.

A US age rule is a different set of accounts, on US checking fee waivers at age 62.

Questions

Is every Canadian bank free at 65?
No. RBC Day to Day rebates to $0 at 65. RBC Advantage rebates to $8.95. TD Minimum is $0 for seniors only when they collect the Guaranteed Income Supplement. Other TD accounts print a partial rebate at 60.
Do I have to ask RBC for the seniors rebate?
The deposit booklet says you do not have to apply. It applies automatically. Only one monthly fee rebate per account owner is used, and RBC applies the greater discount if you qualify for more than one.
Does the senior price remove ATM fees?
The pages opened here are monthly account fees. A non-bank ATM fee is a separate line. Read that sentence on the same bank's fee list.
