US checking fee waivers at age 62
An age waiver for a younger adult is common. A waiver that starts at 62 or 65 is a different sentence, and several large banks do not print one. This page is what each bank's own page said on 20 October 2026. Student and under-25 rules are on [US bank monthly fee waivers for students](/guides/us-student-checking-fee-waivers).

Where an age 62 waiver is printed
Opened 20 October 2026. The monthly fee without an age rule is on monthly checking account fees by bank. The line on your own statement is the one that counts. Upload it on the upload page. The PDF stays on your device. Expenvo lists the lines. It does not sign in to the bank.
| Account | Monthly fee the page prints | What the same page says about age 62 or 65 |
|---|---|---|
| PNC Simple Checking | $5.00, or $0 at age 62 or over | The consumer schedule effective 22 February 2026 waives the monthly service charge if the account holder is age 62 or over, or under 25, or a PNC employee, or with a qualifying direct deposit. A paper statement on Simple Checking is $2.00 per statement period, and that paper-statement line is no charge if the account holder is age 62 or over. Footnote 5 says the waiver uses the date of birth of a primary or secondary owner. A fiduciary's date of birth does not qualify. |
| PNC Standard Checking | $7.00, or $0 at age 62 or over | The same schedule waives the $7.00 monthly service charge if the account holder is age 62 or over, or a PNC employee, or with a $500.00 average monthly balance, or $500.00 in qualifying direct deposits, or when the account is linked as a benefit account to Performance Select or Virtual Wallet with Performance Select. |
| Wells Fargo Clear Access and Everyday Checking | $5 or $15, with a young-adult waiver | Clear Access can avoid the $5 fee when the primary owner is 13 to 24. Everyday Checking can avoid the $15 fee when the primary owner is 17 to 24. Both pages say age stops working as a waiver when the primary owner turns 25. Neither page prints a waiver at 62 or 65. |
| Bank of America Advantage SafeBalance | $4.95, waived under 25 | The student banking page waives the $4.95 monthly maintenance fee if an owner or the child is under 25, or the minimum daily balance is $500, or the owner is in a named Preferred Rewards tier. The personal schedule of fees opened the same day does not print a senior or age 65 monthly fee waiver. |
| Huntington checking | $0, or $10, or $25, without an age rule | Asterisk-Free Checking prints a $0 monthly maintenance fee. Perks Checking is $10 unless you deposit $1,000 in the month or keep $5,000 in eligible balances. Platinum Perks is $25 unless you keep $25,000. The comparison page does not print an age 62 or 65 waiver. Huntington Honors waives Perks for military, educators, law enforcement, first responders, and nurses. That is an occupation rule, not an age rule. |
A Canadian senior rebate is a different page
RBC, TD, Scotiabank, BMO, and CIBC print age 60 or 65 rebates on named chequing accounts. Those dollars are on senior chequing fee rebates at Canadian banks. Do not use a Canadian rebate on a US account.
Questions
- Do Chase, Wells Fargo, and Bank of America waive checking fees at 65?
- The Wells Fargo and Bank of America pages opened on 20 October 2026 do not print a waiver at 62 or 65. Wells Fargo stops the age waiver at 25. Bank of America's SafeBalance age waiver is under 25. This page did not open a Chase age-65 schedule, so Chase is left out.
- Which PNC accounts use age 62?
- The February 2026 consumer schedule prints the age 62 waiver on Simple Checking and on Standard Checking. Other PNC accounts on that schedule use different waiver rules. Read the account name.
- Does a $0 monthly fee at age 62 remove every other fee?
- No. PNC still prints an expedited card delivery fee of $25.00 on the same schedule. The monthly service charge and the card delivery fee are different lines.
