What a Tesla, ChargePoint, Electrify America, FLO, or Petro-Canada EV charge means

An EV charging line is the network or the station owner, not your bank's monthly fee. The pages opened 17 October 2026 do not share one price or one statement code. Where a page prints a dollar, it is quoted below. Where it does not, this guide does not invent one.

Tesla Supercharger

Tesla's Supercharging support page, opened 17 October 2026, says there are over 80,000 global Superchargers. Payment is processed from the payment method in the Tesla app once you unplug. Specific pricing is on the site pin in the car or the app. Prices may change. The charging rate is set by the plug in time and does not change mid session if the site price changes. Whenever possible, billing is per kWh. Otherwise it is per minute, in four tiers: at or below 60 kW, above 60 kW up to 100 kW, above 100 kW up to 180 kW, and above 180 kW. The page does not print a national dollar per kWh or per minute. Do not copy a price from a pin in another city onto your statement.

Congestion fees accrue when a site is busy and the battery is already at or above 80 percent, or when the session has ended. Fees are waived for the first five minutes, then billed until the vehicle is moved. The rate is on that site's pop up, not a single national dollar on the page opened here. Free Supercharging credits do not cover congestion fees, and they work only at Supercharger sites owned by Tesla. Invoices are in the Tesla app: menu, Charging, Charging History. Supported cards listed on the page are American Express, Discover, JCB, MasterCard, Visa, and Diners. Supercharging payments for Tesla vehicles are made through the Tesla app. An unpaid balance is paid from Charging, then Pay Now. A small pending card check from a different company is not this bill. Holds in general are on temp authorization hold.

ChargePoint and Electrify America

ChargePoint's pricing FAQ, last updated 6/16/2026, says stations are independently owned and each owner sets the price. ChargePoint processes payment for paid sessions. Pricing is in the app. Owners may charge by kWh, by the hour, a flat fee, a minimum or maximum, or an overnight or idle fee. In the US, energy rates are based on kWh. In Canada, rates may be time or kWh. The page names a session fee, a ChargePoint service fee, a minimum fee, a maximum fee, an overstay rate after a grace period, a guest fee for a contactless card without an account, and a convenience fee when driver support starts the session. It does not print a dollar for any of those. Free means the owner set no fee. The phone number on the page is 1-888-758-4389, 24 hours. Check your bank's current fee schedule is the wrong document for this line. Check the station price in the ChargePoint app, because the owner can change it.

Electrify America's mobile FAQ says an Electrify America Pass or Pass+ membership is not required. Pass+ members save about 25 percent each time they charge. The page does not print the Pass+ monthly dollar. It does say the Pass+ subscription is charged when you sign up and monthly after that, and that a request to change from Pass+ to Pass takes effect on the first day of the next billing cycle. Idle fee: drivers who do not unplug and move the vehicle ten minutes after the session is complete are charged $0.40 per minute. A walk up guest paying by credit or debit card gets a temporary authorization of $50, released after final billing. The page says that $50 is a hold, not the final charge, and that hold release times vary by bank. It also says auto reload and wallet balances are being phased out for app users, so do not assume an old auto reload note is how your account bills today. DC fast charging prices depend on location, plan, and energy. Read the charger screen or the app. The page does not print one national price per kWh.

FLO and Petro-Canada

FLO's driver terms say the charging fee is shown at the station. On stations with a screen made by AddEnergie Technologies Inc., it appears on the display. Stations without a screen, including roaming, use posted signs, or you can call FLO. The app map also shows prices, and if the map and the station disagree, the price posted at the station controls. You are billed the fee displayed at the start of the session, and that fee stays the same for the session. Taxes may apply. A parking authority can charge a separate parking fee. Idle fees are named as the driver's responsibility. The terms do not print one idle dollar or one national price per kWh. An example rate in a station owner form is not a driver price, so it is not quoted here. On the road support on the terms page is 1-888-356-8911. Customer experience is 1-855-543-8356, seven days a week, 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. Eastern time, and [email protected]. Billing error claims go to that email within 30 calendar days. A reimbursement for a FLO user goes back to the FLO account, not as a new credit on the card. A guest reimbursement goes back to the card used.

Petro-Canada's Electric Highway page, opened 17 October 2026, says pay $0.50 per minute while you charge, with no connection or idling fees. That sentence is marked with an asterisk on the page. Read the footnote on Petro-Canada's page before you treat the $0.50 as every charger in every season, and check the price on the charger you use. Payment is tap at the station: debit, credit, Apple Pay, or Google Pay. The page says guests typically spend 20 to 30 minutes, based on historical data. Help on site or by phone is 1 (800) 668-0220. The customer service page says you cannot earn or redeem Petro-Points for an EV charge at this time. The pages opened do not print a required card descriptor. Match Petro-Canada, the date, and the amount. A road toll is a different charge, covered on toll road charges. Parking apps are on SpotHero, ParkMobile, HONK, and Impark.

Upload the statement on Expenvo. The PDF stays on your device. Expenvo groups the same merchant when a similar amount shows up again about a week, a month, or a year apart, and it lists a line that already says membership or subscription. You can also mark a name yourself. It does not cancel the plan, and it does not count the charge as savings. One month can miss a yearly renewal. The longer checklist is find subscriptions from a statement.

Questions

Is there one EV charging price?
No. Tesla and ChargePoint send you to the site or the app. FLO bills the price posted at the station. Petro-Canada's Electric Highway page prints $0.50 per minute with no connection or idling fees, with an asterisk you should read on that page. Electrify America prints a $0.40 per minute idle fee after ten minutes, and a $50 card hold for walk up guests.
Why did Electrify America charge $50?
The mobile FAQ says a walk up credit or debit card gets a temporary authorization of $50. After the session ends, the hold is replaced by the actual session cost. Release time depends on the bank.
Does ChargePoint print a national fee?
The pricing FAQ updated 6/16/2026 names session, service, guest, convenience, and overstay fees, and it does not print a dollar for them. The station owner sets the price. The phone number on that page is 1-888-758-4389.
