Citi stop payment fee is $30

By Karla CastroUpdated November 1, 2026

Citi's consumer deposit account agreement, effective November 14, 2024, prints a stop payment request fee of $30.00 on the standard column. The fee applies to personal checks, official checks, and money orders. The Citi Priority, Citigold, and Citigold Private Client columns print the fee as waived.

The fee chart

Opened 1 November 2026. The fee chart lists Stop Payment Request at $30.00 for the standard fee, and waived for Citi Priority, Citigold, and Citigold Private Client. The line says the fee applies on personal checks, official checks, and money orders. When you stop a check, Citi says an ACH stop is placed automatically for the same amount and the same payee, where a check may be converted to an ACH. There is no fee for that second stop.

The agreement says a stop payment fee may apply and points to the fee chart. It does not print the words the fee will use on the statement. The fee can still post as its own line. You cannot stop an electronic bill payment once Citi has issued it.

Tiers that print waived

If the account is in Citi Priority, Citigold, or Citigold Private Client, the chart prints the stop payment request fee as waived. A standard account prints $30.00. The second ACH stop that Citi places with the check stop has no fee on every column. A waived fee is not a promise that the item was stopped.
