Frost Bank overdraft fee

Frost prints the overdraft dollar on the Personal Account fee table, not as one national bank average. The same page prints an $8 monthly service charge, and the cases that make that charge $0.

The overdraft table on the Personal Account page

Opened 21 October 2026. Frost's Personal Account page prints $35 for each item it pays that overdraws the account by more than $100, up to a maximum fee of $105 per day. The items named in that row are a check, an in-person withdrawal, an ATM withdrawal, or other electronic means. The same row says Frost will not charge an overdraft fee if the transaction is $5 or less, if a debit card transaction was authorized with sufficient available funds, if a debit card or ATM transaction is declined, or if an ACH or a check is returned unpaid.

A footnote on that page says that for Frost Personal and Frost Plus accounts, overdrafts created by check, in person or ATM withdrawal, or other electronic means will not be charged a $35 overdraft fee if you overdraw the account by $100 or less under standard overdraft practices. Paying the item is discretionary. Frost says it can refuse when the account is not in good standing, you are not making regular deposits, or you have too many overdrafts. You still have to bring the balance back to positive.

The overdraft protection transfer row on the same table is $0 from another deposit account, and $0 from a line of credit, with interest on the outstanding balance of the line. The miscellaneous table prints a return item at $0 per item. A stop payment is $30 per item. A cashier's check is $5 per item. An incoming wire is $15. An outgoing wire says the fee varies, so this page does not invent that dollar.

A second Frost page uses different wording

Frost's overdraft coverage page says standard overdraft practices come with every personal checking account, and that everyday debit card coverage is a separate opt-in. That page prints a $35 fee for each transaction that overdraws the account by $5 or more, and then says accounts with the $100 overdraft grace are not charged if the account is overdrawn by $100 or less. It also says there is no fee for a transaction Frost declines or returns, and that Frost does not charge an NSF fee when it returns an item. The merchant you were paying can still charge its own fee.

Those two pages do not use the same sentence. Use the Personal Account fee table for the dollar, and read the coverage page for opt-in and for the grace feature. If they still disagree on the day you look, the line on your statement is the one that posted. The big-bank table does not include Frost. It is on US overdraft fees by bank.

The $8 monthly service charge

The same Personal Account page prints a $0 monthly service charge when any one of these is true: direct deposits, mobile deposits, debit card credits, or Zelle credits totaling $100 or more; a minimum daily balance of $1,000; $5,000 combined average daily balances in personal deposit accounts, including checking, savings, money market, CDs, and IRAs; or an owner on the account is under 25. If none of those is met, the page prints an $8 monthly service charge. Direct deposits on that footnote may include paychecks, pensions, Social Security, or other monthly deposits through ACH. Debit card credits include non-Zelle transfers such as Venmo, Cash App, PayPal, and Apple Cash.

Non-Frost ATMs are $2 for a transfer or withdrawal, plus any fee the ATM owner charges. Frost ATMs, Pulse point-of-sale terminals, and H-E-B, Corner Store, and Circle K locations in Texas are $0 on that table. The phone on the page is (800) 513-7678. The line on your own statement is the one that counts. Upload it on the upload page. The PDF stays on your device. Expenvo lists the lines. It does not call the bank.
