Immediate check availability fees

Some banks offer to make a deposited check available right away, for a fee. That fee is not the deposit itself, and it is not the fee for cashing a check when you have no account. PNC prints the price on its consumer schedule. A hold on a normal deposit is on [check deposit holds](/guides/check-deposit-holds).

PNC Express Funds

Opened 20 October 2026. The consumer schedule effective 31 May 2026 describes PNC Express Funds as immediate availability on approved checks deposited in a branch, at a PNC ATM, or in mobile banking, subject to cutoff times. Checks under $25 are not eligible. The line on your own statement is the one that counts. Upload it on the upload page. The PDF stays on your device. Expenvo lists the lines. It does not sign in to the bank.

The fee on that schedule is 2.50 percent of the check amount over $100, and $2.00 for a check from $25 to $100. A $150 check is not charged 2.50 percent of $150. The schedule's words are the amount over $100. A $40 check is the $2.00 line, not a percent.

Cashing a check for someone who is not a PNC customer is a different line on the same schedule. That non-customer fee is on non-customer check cashing fees. Do not add it to Express Funds. A check that later comes back unpaid is on returned deposit and returned item fees. Immediate availability does not mean the check cannot be returned.

What this page does not copy

Chase's personal fee schedule effective 14 June 2026 does not list an immediate-availability percent for a deposited check. This page does not invent one. If your bank offers a faster deposit and the agreement does not print a fee, ask before you accept it. A verbal quote is not a number this guide can add.

Questions

How much is PNC Express Funds on a $200 check?
The 31 May 2026 schedule prices Express Funds at 2.50 percent of the amount over $100. On a $200 check, that portion is $100. The schedule does not say 2.50 percent of the whole $200. A check from $25 to $100 is $2.00 instead.
Can I use Express Funds on a $10 check?
No. The schedule says Express Funds is not eligible for a check under $25.
Is Express Funds the same as a non-customer check cashing fee?
No. Express Funds is optional immediate availability when you deposit an approved check. The non-customer line is for cashing a check for a payee who does not have a PNC deposit account. The percents are also written differently. Read the line that matches what the teller or the app offered.
