What a 2Checkout or Verifone charge means

A line that starts with 2co.com* is a purchase processed by 2Checkout. The merchant FAQ opened 17 October 2026 says 2Checkout is now Verifone, and it prints the statement pattern the seller should expect. This page does not invent a second code.

The letters on the statement

The 2Checkout merchant FAQ, opened 17 October 2026, answers 'What do my customers see on their bank statement?' with this sentence: payments made via 2Checkout show up as 2co.com*MerchantName, where MerchantName is the seller's commercial name at 2Checkout. The seller can update that account statement name from account settings. The star is part of the pattern the FAQ prints. The words after the star are the store's commercial name, not a fee label from your bank.

The same page's banner says 2Checkout is now Verifone. A line that says Verifone, or a receipt that names 2Checkout, can be the same payment processor. Do not treat those two names as two charges until you compare the date and the amount. The FAQ does not print a dollar amount, a subscription price, or a list of every store that uses the processor. If the commercial name is unfamiliar, search your email for the amount and the date before you call the bank. Other short codes are listed on statement codes. A line you still cannot place is an unknown charge.

A processor charge is not a bank fee

2Checkout sits between you and the store. The merchant FAQ says customers can request a refund through 2CO myAccount or shopper support, and that the merchant issues refunds from the control panel or the API. That is the seller's refund path. It is not a promise that your bank will remove a posted purchase. A purchase you recognize is not a monthly maintenance fee. Those bank lines are on service charge or monthly maintenance fee.

Subscriptions and renewals are something the FAQ says 2Checkout can bill, on a schedule the merchant sets. A second charge a month or a year later can be a renewal of the same store. Compare the commercial name, not only the 2co.com* prefix. How to stop a plan you meant to end is on how to cancel a subscription. A pending amount that has not posted yet is a different question, covered on pending vs posted.

What to do with the line

Write down the full description, including 2co.com* and the name after the star, plus the date and the amount. Match that to an order email. If the name is a store you used, the line is that order. If nobody in the household recognizes the commercial name, use the shopper support path on 2Checkout's site and have the statement line ready. A card dispute is a separate step, and the steps differ in the United States and Canada. Start with dispute a charge in the US or dispute a charge in Canada.

Upload the statement on Expenvo. The PDF stays on your device. Expenvo groups the same merchant when a similar amount shows up again about a week, a month, or a year apart, and it lists a line that already says membership or subscription. You can also mark a name yourself. It does not cancel the plan, and it does not count the charge as savings. One month can miss a yearly renewal. The longer checklist is find subscriptions from a statement.

Questions

What does 2co.com* mean?
The 2Checkout merchant FAQ says payments show up as 2co.com*MerchantName. MerchantName is the seller's commercial name at 2Checkout. The page also says 2Checkout is now Verifone.
Is 2co.com* a bank fee?
No. It is the processor's label for a store purchase. A monthly maintenance fee uses different words and is explained on the service charge guide.
The name after the star is not a store I know. What next?
Compare the date and the amount with email receipts, including anyone else who uses the card. Then contact 2Checkout shopper support with the full statement line. Do not invent a second descriptor.
