Monthly savings account fees at major US banks
A savings monthly fee is a charge for keeping the account, separate from a withdrawal limit fee. The dollars below are the ones printed on each bank's own page or fee schedule, opened 19 October 2026. A checking monthly fee is a different table. Check the current fee schedule before you rely on a dollar, because banks change these amounts.

Chase, Bank of America, and Wells Fargo
Chase Savings lists a monthly service fee of $5, or $0. Chase says you avoid it by doing one of the following each monthly statement period. Keep a balance of $300 or more at the beginning of each day. Or bring in $25 or more in total Autosave or other repeating automatic transfers from a personal Chase checking account, and Chase says those transfers are available only through chase.com or the Chase Mobile app. Or link the savings account to a qualifying checking account. Or link it to a Chase College Checking account that is enrolled in Overdraft Protection. Or have an account owner under 25. Checking monthly fees are on monthly checking account fees by bank.
Bank of America's Personal Schedule of Fees, marked effective 7 August 2026 and page dated 08/2026, lists Advantage Savings at $8.00 a month. The minimum to open is $100.00. For new accounts, the bank waives the monthly maintenance fee for six months from opening. That waiver does not apply if the account was converted or changed into Advantage Savings. After any waiver ends, meet one rule each statement cycle. Keep a minimum daily balance of $500 or more. Or own a Bank of America Advantage Relationship Banking account. Fiduciary accounts, including trust and estate accounts, do not qualify for that relationship benefit. Or have an owner under 25. Adding an under 25 owner can take 3 business days, and the age of a payable on death beneficiary does not qualify. Or have an owner enrolled in BofA Rewards who qualifies for Preferred Plus, Preferred Honors, or Premier. You may not write paper checks on this account. It is set to Decline All for overdrafts.
Wells Fargo Way2Save lists a $5 monthly service fee. Avoid it with one of these each fee period. A $300 minimum daily balance. One automatic transfer of $25 or more from a linked Wells Fargo checking account. One automatic transfer each business day of $1 or more from a linked checking account. One or more Save As You Go transfers, which the page describes as an automatic $1 from the linked checking account when a one time debit purchase or a Bill Pay transaction posts. Or a primary account owner who is 24 or under. When that owner turns 25, age no longer avoids the fee. Customers 12 and under need an adult co-owner. Platinum Savings lists a $12 monthly service fee, avoided with a $3,500 minimum daily balance each fee period.
Citi, U.S. Bank, and PNC
Citi's compare page lists the everyday tier, a combined average monthly balance from $0 to $29,999.99, with a savings monthly service fee of $4.50. Citi Priority and Citigold print no fee for that row. The everyday savings fee is waived with a $500 average monthly balance per savings account, or when the owner of the savings account also owns a checking account. Citi Miles Ahead Savings, certain UTMA savings accounts, and COMMA accounts are not charged a monthly service fee. The page says a monthly service fee is charged each calendar month, and that calendar months may not match the statement period. Citi's official check and money order fees are on official check and money order fees.
U.S. Bank's savings page lists Bank Smartly Savings with a $5 monthly maintenance fee and a $25 minimum opening deposit. The footnote says the $5 fee is waived when you are an owner of a Bank Smartly Checking account, a Safe Debit account, or a Bank Smartly Visa Signature Card, or for accounts with a minor under 18. Elite Money Market prints a $10 monthly maintenance fee and a $100 minimum opening deposit. The compare card says to see how to waive that fee, and it does not print the waiver steps on the card itself. This guide does not copy a waiver the card did not print.
PNC Standard Savings lists a monthly service charge of $5, or $0 if one of these is met. An average monthly balance of $300. A link to a select PNC checking account. An Auto Savings transfer of $25 or more each statement period from a PNC checking account. Or you are under 25. The page says the minimum deposit to open online is $0, and the minimum deposit to open in the branch is $25. It also says unlimited deposits and up to 6 withdrawals without a fee. It does not print the dollar charged after the sixth withdrawal, so this guide does not invent one. The limit itself is covered on excess withdrawal fees.
Truist and Capital One
Truist's savings comparison lists Truist One Savings with a $50 minimum opening deposit. The monthly maintenance fee is $5, or $0 if you have any related Truist personal checking account, or a minimum daily ledger balance of $300 or more, or a recurring preauthorized internal transfer of $25 or more per statement cycle, or you are under 18. The footnote says the Truist Confidence Account is not an eligible product to waive the Truist One Savings fee. There is no fee for the first 6 withdrawals each statement cycle. The Withdrawal Limit Fee is $5 per withdrawal over six, with a maximum of six of those fees per statement cycle. It applies regardless of balance to withdrawals and transfers from a Truist personal savings or money market account, including branch, ATM, mail, and electronic transfers. Transactions the bank starts, or ones done for a legal reason, are not counted toward the six.
Truist One Money Market opens with $50. The monthly fee is $12, or $0 with a minimum daily ledger balance of $15,000 or more. It uses the same first six withdrawals rule. The certificate of deposit column prints a $0 monthly maintenance fee, with opening amounts of $1,000 and $2,500 for terms of 32 days and greater. Truist Confidence Savings prints a $25 opening minimum and a $0 monthly maintenance fee. You need a Truist Confidence Account to open Confidence Savings. This page does not describe early withdrawal penalties, because those sentences were not the monthly fee row.
Capital One 360 Performance Savings says there are no fees to open or keep the account, and no minimum balance required to maintain it. The page does not print a monthly dollar to waive, because it prints no monthly fee for this account. Interest is variable. The page that loaded did not print a usable rate figure, so this guide does not quote one. A fee that still appears on a statement is the line to ask about, with the date and the amount. Upload the statement on Expenvo. The PDF stays on your device. Expenvo lists the lines. It does not sign in to the bank or the company, and it does not cancel a plan. How to read a statement PDF separates a monthly fee from a purchase.
