Balance transfer fees by card
A balance transfer moves debt onto the card. The fee is often a percent with a minimum, and a promotional offer can print a different fee than the standard one. Interest on the transfer often starts immediately. These rows are one named agreement or offer, opened 16 October 2026.

Opened 16 October 2026. Each row is one named agreement or offer, not every card from that issuer. If a mailing offers a different percent, the offer controls that transfer. Capital One is left out for the same reason as the late fee page: the consumer pages opened did not print a clean consumer transfer fee tied to a named consumer card.

Questions
- Is the fee on the offer the same as the fee in the agreement?
- Often no. Amex EveryDay, RBC, Scotiabank, BMO, CIBC, and the TD Cash Back Visa Infinite box each say a promotion can print its own fee. Read the offer before you accept it.
- Can I transfer a balance from the same bank?
- Chase does not permit a transfer from another Chase account or a related bank. Wells Fargo Active Cash says you cannot transfer a balance from Wells Fargo or an affiliate. Scotiabank says you cannot use a balance transfer offer to pay another Scotiabank credit product.
- Does the transfer have interest-free days?
- The agreements above say a balance transfer is not in the purchase grace period, unless that agreement's promotional APR says otherwise. The promotional APR and the fee are different lines. A 0% APR can still have a transfer fee.
- Why is Capital One missing?
- The consumer Capital One pages opened on 16 October 2026 did not print a balance transfer fee for a named consumer card that this page could cite on its own.
