Bank of America ATM fee is $2.50

By Karla CastroUpdated October 31, 2026

Bank of America's personal schedule of fees, effective August 7, 2026, prints no ATM fee at a Bank of America ATM. A withdrawal or transfer at a non-Bank of America ATM is $2.50 in the U.S. and $5.00 in a foreign country. The ATM operator can add another fee.

The $2.50 and the $5.00

Opened 31 October 2026. The schedule prints no ATM fee for withdrawals, deposits, transfers, payments, and balance inquiries at a Bank of America ATM. A Bank of America ATM is one that prominently displays the Bank of America name and logo. The non-Bank of America ATM fee is $2.50 each for withdrawals and transfers at a non-Bank of America ATM in the U.S. It is $5.00 each for withdrawals and transfers at a non-Bank of America ATM in a foreign country. The schedule says you may also be charged a fee by the ATM operator or any network used.

The bank's fee and the operator's fee can show as two lines, or the operator's fee can come out of the cash. The $2.50 is the bank's U.S. line. It is not the operator's surcharge.

How to avoid it

Use a Bank of America ATM. That line is no ATM fee. Preferred Plus can waive one U.S. withdrawal and one U.S. transfer per statement cycle and refund one operator fee of each. Preferred Honors and Premier waive the bank's U.S. fee and refund the operator fee. Premier also waives the foreign-country fee. Those waivers are for account owners enrolled in BofA Rewards who qualify for the named tier. Read the schedule before you assume a tier applies.

Upload the statement on Expenvo. The PDF stays on your device. Expenvo lists the lines. It does not sign in to the bank, and it does not move the money.
