Debit card replacement fees at Canadian banks

A replacement debit card is a fee from the bank, when the bank prints one. It is not a purchase you did not make. This page is the dollar RBC and TD printed on 20 October 2026, and the booklets that did not print one.

RBCFirst card free, then $5.00Additional account services say the first Client Card issued or replaced for any reason in a calendar year is free. A $5.00 fee applies to each additional replacement that year. The deposit booklet says the fee does not apply when the extra replacement is not started by you, such as a name change or an expiring card. It also does not apply when an advisor replaces the card for returned mail, fraud, or a damaged or defective card.
TDNo fee to issue the cardSection 5.1 of the Access Agreement says TD does not charge fees or service charges for issuing a Card, credentials, or PIN. The same section says TD does charge for some transactions you make with them, and that another bank can charge you at its ATM.
Scotiabank, BMO, and CIBCNo replacement dollar in the booklets openedThe Scotiabank day-to-day companion booklet, the BMO everyday banking fee booklet, and the CIBC personal account service fees PDF opened on 20 October 2026 did not print a debit card replacement dollar. This row is not a claim that the fee is $0.

What to match on the statement

RBC's $5.00 is for an extra replacement in the same calendar year, after the free one. A first replacement in that year is the free row. TD's sentence is about issuing the card. A foreign purchase with the Access Card can still add the 3.5 percent fee in TD's list of services.

If the statement shows a card fee and the booklet you were given does not, ask the bank to point to the line. How to ask your bank to refund a fee is that request. The bank can say no.
