What a GoodLife, LA Fitness, or Anytime Fitness charge means

A GoodLife Fitness, LA Fitness, or Anytime Fitness line is usually the membership dues. It can also be personal training, a freeze, or a late payment. The brand on the statement is the gym, or the billing company the gym uses. Canceling is controlled by the membership agreement at your club. This page quotes only the rules those companies printed on the pages opened 17 October 2026.

What the line can say

GoodLife Fitness in Canada is not the same company as Goodlife Health Clubs in Australia. Use goodlifefitness.com and the club you joined. The member account page prints the phone number +1 (800) 387-2524, weekdays between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. Eastern Time, and it also tells you to talk to a fitness advisor at the front desk. The statement name usually includes GoodLife. This page does not invent a monthly due.

LA Fitness's membership questions page says most club memberships are month to month. The line usually includes LA Fitness. A personal training agreement can be a separate charge from the club dues. The page does not print a single monthly price.

Anytime Fitness says each club is independently owned. The FAQ, opened 17 October 2026, says pricing varies by location and that the average monthly cost of membership is $53. It also says club dues, monthly fees, and extra charges are specific to each gym. Do not treat $53 as your bill. Read your agreement. Billing questions, including a card update or a double charge, go to ABC Financial Services at 888-827-9262. The statement may name Anytime Fitness or the billing company. A missed payment can include a late fee. The dollar is in the agreement, not on the national FAQ. Planet Fitness is a different chain, on what a Planet Fitness charge means.

How to cancel

GoodLife's cancel screen says the membership is canceled as of the last training date shown there. Until that date, payments that are due still continue, and club and on demand access continue. The cancellation applies to that membership only. Other people on the account have to contact the club themselves. Other products, such as personal training, are changed with the club, not by that one cancel button. The same screen says you can pause instead, and that fees may apply. A confirmation goes to the email on file. The public contact page says current members manage the account under My Account after signing in, or by calling the local club. This guide does not invent a cancellation fee the Canadian pages did not print.

LA Fitness says you can cancel (1) by mailing written notice to P.O. Box 54170, Irvine, CA 92619, and it recommends registered or certified mail plus a copy for your files, (2) in person at the club front desk, or (3) in your online account, or another way your state agreement allows, such as email. A mailed form postmarked at least 5 business days before the next billing date should stop further bills. If it is postmarked inside those 5 business days, you may be billed once more, and LA Fitness says it will refund that extra billing. If the agreement has an initial term of three months or more, canceling after the term follows those steps. Canceling during the term takes effect when the term ends. Canceling before the term ends adds a termination fee. The page does not print the termination fee dollar. Prepaid last month dues are applied to the month after the last recurring dues payment that was made before the notice arrived. The membership then expires at the end of that prepaid month. Billing changes made after the current month has started processing, usually 3 to 5 days before the bill date, take effect the following bill date.

Anytime Fitness says the cancellation policy, the cost to cancel, and any termination fee are in the membership agreement for that location. There is no single national cancel fee on the FAQ. Freeze and hold requests go to the home club. Memberships can transfer. A relocation transfer must be more than 10 miles from the last residence, and the FAQ says you will not incur a transfer fee. If the home gym changes, the monthly dues can change. Automatic renewal happens only if you initialed for it in the agreement. If you did, the membership continues at the end of the term unless you stop it the way the agreement describes.

If the charge already posted

Compare the statement amount with the agreement and with the last receipt. A higher amount can be dues plus a freeze fee, a late fee, or personal training. It can also be the first month plus the last month, which some clubs collect at signup. Those are different lines from a duplicate. Two identical dues on the same day are the question for the billing desk, not a guess.

Anytime members with a double charge are pointed to ABC Financial at 888-827-9262. GoodLife members use the club or the 800 number above. LA Fitness members use the club, the online account, or the mailing address above. Ask what the line was for, and ask whether a notice you already sent was received before the bill date. Keep the postmark or the email confirmation.

A gym you meant to keep is not a dispute. A charge after a completed cancellation, or a charge you never agreed to, is the one to challenge. US card steps are on dispute a charge in the US. Canadian steps are on dispute a charge in Canada. Stopping the next draft is still the club's process, which is also covered in how to cancel a subscription.

Upload the statement on Expenvo. The PDF stays on your device. Expenvo groups the same merchant when a similar amount shows up again about a week, a month, or a year apart, and it lists a line that already says membership or subscription. You can also mark a name yourself. It does not cancel the plan, and it does not count the charge as savings. One month can miss a yearly renewal. The longer checklist is find subscriptions from a statement.

Questions

Does Anytime Fitness charge $53 everywhere?
No. The FAQ says the average monthly cost is $53 and that dues are specific to each independently owned club. Your agreement is the price that matters.
How early does LA Fitness need a mailed cancellation?
A form postmarked at least 5 business days before the next billing date should stop further bills. Inside that window, you may be billed once more, and LA Fitness says it will refund that extra billing. A term that has not ended can add a termination fee. The page does not print that fee's dollar.
Does canceling GoodLife stop the payment the same day?
The cancel confirmation says the membership ends on the last training date, and that payments due until then still continue. Other members on the account are not canceled by that step.
