What a Temu or Shein charge means
A Temu or Shein line is the store, not a fee from your bank. The pages opened 17 October 2026 do not print a required card code for either brand. The name usually includes Temu or Shein. A pending Temu amount after a failed payment or a cancellation is an authorization hold. A posted amount is the order, a refund in progress, or a charge you need to match to the account.

Temu's pending line after a failed payment
Temu's support article, Why are there pending charges after my payment failed or the order was canceled, says Temu contacts your bank to confirm the payment method when you place an order. That authorization appears on the statement and is not an actual charge. If the payment failed or the order was canceled, the pending amount is an authorization hold that is being reversed. Temu says you will not be charged for an order whose payment failed or that was canceled. The hold is removed automatically, and it usually takes 3 to 6 business days. Temu says it cannot remove the hold. If you need it gone sooner, contact the bank.
That 3 to 6 business day line is Temu's article about its own failed or canceled payment. It is not a rule for every store. Hotels, gas stations, and other shops use different hold times. The general pattern, and what not to assume, is on temp authorization hold. A second pending Temu line for one purchase is covered by Temu's duplicate pending article. Temu says you are not being double charged for a single purchase, the extra pending line is usually an authorization hold, and the bank should remove the extra pending charges in 3 to 6 business days. Temu cannot remove that one either. Wait until one of them posts before you treat both as money spent. Pending vs posted is the difference.
A Temu charge you do not recognize
Temu's Canada unknown charges article says the unknown pending amount can be the bank authorization. The bank reserves the funds until the transaction processes or the authorization expires. If you canceled, the authorization comes off according to your bank's policy. Temu tells you to ask the bank how long it holds authorizations for online orders. That is a different sentence from the 3 to 6 business day line above. Use the 3 to 6 day sentence for a failed payment or a canceled order. Use the bank's own answer when the article points you there.
If a purchase has posted and you do not recognize it, Temu's Canada article says to check household members who could use the device or the card. If the Temu account may be compromised, sign in and change the password from Account security. Temu says not to include your full bank account information when you write in. The article includes a report theft link. A card dispute is a separate call from Temu's password change. The US card path is dispute a charge in the US. The Canadian path is dispute a charge in Canada. This guide does not invent a Temu star prefix. Search the statement for Temu, then match the date and the amount to the order.
Shein, and what was not on the page
Shein's public return policy page did not return refund steps or a statement descriptor when it was opened on 17 October 2026. This guide does not invent a Shein return window, a restocking fee, or a card code. Sign in to the Shein order and match the date and the amount. If the name on the statement includes Shein, start there. If the name is only a payment company, open the order email. A payment company in the middle is the same idea as PayPal on a statement.
Upload the statement on Expenvo. The PDF stays on your device. Expenvo groups the same merchant when a similar amount shows up again about a week, a month, or a year apart. A Temu order is not a membership by itself. You can mark the name. Expenvo does not cancel the order, and it does not promise a refund. A line you still cannot place is on unknown charge on a statement.
