How to waive a PNC monthly fee
You get the monthly service charge PNC prints for Virtual Wallet, the ways that fee schedule says it can be $0, and a short list of questions. Virtual Wallet with Performance Spend is a different account with a different fee. Asking PNC to remove a fee already charged is a request. PNC can say no. This page does not promise a waiver.

What this fee is
A monthly service charge is a charge for the checking account. It is not a store purchase and not a subscription. How fees show on a US statement shows where a fee line sits. A US statement stays in USD.
The fees PNC prints
PNC's Virtual Wallet features and fees and the Virtual Wallet fee schedule list a monthly service charge of $7. Both say there is no monthly service charge if you meet any one of these: a $500 combined average monthly balance in the Spend and Reserve accounts, $500 in qualifying monthly direct deposits to the Spend account during the statement period, an account holder age 62 or over, or an account holder who is a PNC employee. The schedule says the employee rule ends when the employment ends, and that some workers are not eligible. It says the minimum deposit to open Spend is $25, or $0 if the account is opened online.
Virtual Wallet with Performance Spend is not the $7 account. Its fee schedule lists a $15 monthly service charge on Spend. It says that charge is $0 with any one of these: a $2,000 combined average monthly balance in Spend and Reserve, a $10,000 combined average monthly balance across linked PNC consumer deposit accounts, or $2,000 in qualifying monthly direct deposits to Spend ($1,000 for WorkPlace or Military Banking customers). Read the schedule for the account name on your statement before you use the $7 figure.
What to ask
Use the phone number on the statement. Have the date, the fee name, and the amount. Ask which Virtual Wallet product is on the account. Then ask PNC to review the fee or remove it. They can say no.
Upload a statement in Expenvo to see the bank fee lines it recognizes. The PDF stays on your device. Expenvo does not call PNC.
Questions
- Is every PNC checking account $7 a month?
- No. The Virtual Wallet schedule lists $7. The Performance Spend schedule lists $15. Match the product name before you use either figure.
- Will PNC remove a monthly fee it already charged if I ask?
- They might, and they might not. Asking is a request. Nothing on this page says the bank has to remove a fee already on the statement.
- Can Expenvo tell me the fee will be $0 next month?
- No. Expenvo can list a fee that is already on a statement. It does not know whether you will meet the bank's rule in the next period.
- Does $500 in the account always remove the $7 charge?
- The Virtual Wallet schedule says a $500 combined average monthly balance in Spend and Reserve is one way. It also lists a $500 qualifying direct deposit, age 62 or over, and PNC employment. Meeting one of them is what that page describes. The average is not the same as the lowest balance on a single day.
