Expenvo vs Monarch

Monarch sells a paid subscription and describes syncing accounts. Expenvo has a free plan and a paid plan, and it reads a statement PDF on your device. It does not ask you to sign in to the bank. The prices below are the ones each company prints.

Price

Expenvo Free is $0 USD for one bank statement upload in a calendar month. Pro is $5.99 USD/month or $47 USD a year. Pricing is the full list.

Monarch's pricing page says a yearly subscription is $99.99 and a monthly subscription is $14.99. The page says the first week is on them. It also says they offer a money back guarantee if you do not want to continue.

Monarch's pricing help article, updated 3 March 2026, says they only offer paid subscriptions, billed monthly or yearly, in USD, plus tax where it applies. It says they will notify you at least 30 days before a price change.

How each one gets the transactions

Monarch's pricing page describes syncing with account data as the way the product stays current. That is their published model. This page does not invent the name of their data partner, because the pricing page and the help article fetched here do not name one.

Expenvo does not ask for a bank login. You download a PDF from the bank or card site and open it in the browser. The file stays on your device. How to read a statement PDF explains which file to use.

Expenvo lists bank fees and subscriptions from that statement. It does not tell you to cancel a subscription, and it does not count subscriptions as savings. Monarch's pages describe a broader planning product, including forecasting on a Plus tier. Those are features on their page, not features of Expenvo.

What this page does not say

A free plan and a paid only plan can both be honest products. This page does not claim that one of them sells data. It cites the price and the way each product says it gets transactions.

If either company changes a price, their page wins. This guide is a reading of the pages linked below.
