ATM fees by Canadian bank
A withdrawal at another bank's machine can add your bank's fee on top of a fee from the machine. This page is the dollar each bank prints. Ranges collected by the Financial Consumer Agency of Canada are on a different page. Match the account name before you use a row.

The fee each bank prints
Opened 16 October 2026. Amounts are Canadian dollars unless the cell says otherwise. ATM fees in the US and Canada explains the FCAC ranges. Those ranges are not a substitute for the row below.
| Account | Fee the page prints | What the same page also says |
|---|---|---|
| TD Every Day, Minimum, and Student | $2 in Canada | Non-TD ATM transaction fee in Canada. All-Inclusive and Unlimited print no fee for that Canada withdrawal. U.S. or Mexico is $3 on Every Day, Minimum, and Student, and no fee on All-Inclusive. Unlimited prints $3 for U.S. or Mexico. Outside North America is $5, and All-Inclusive prints no fee. A 3.5% conversion is added on a foreign cash withdrawal after the amount is turned into Canadian dollars. |
| Scotiabank chequing or savings | $2.00 in Canada | Interac fee for a withdrawal at another bank's ABM in Canada. Preferred waives one non-Scotiabank ABM withdrawal a month in Canada. Ultimate includes unlimited non-Scotiabank ABM withdrawals. A withdrawal at another bank's ABM in the U.S. is $3.00. Outside Canada and the U.S. it is $5.00. A Visa cash advance at another bank's ABM is a different line. |
| CIBC Smart Account | $2.00 after one free withdrawal | The personal account service fees PDF dated March 12, 2026 prints a rebate of 1 non-CIBC ATM withdrawal in Canada each month, then $2.00 for each additional withdrawal, on the first Smart column. The next columns rebate unlimited non-CIBC ATM withdrawals in Canada, the U.S., and internationally. CIBC Everyday Chequing is a different account in that PDF. This row does not copy an Everyday dollar. |
| Tangerine Chequing | $1.50 in Canada, $3 farther away | A Scotiabank or Global ATM Alliance ABM withdrawal is free. Another ABM in Canada is $1.50. An ABM that is not in the Global ATM Alliance, in the U.S. or worldwide, is $3. The same schedule prints a $10 fee after 1 year of inactivity. |
| Desjardins, non-Desjardins ATMs | $1.50 in Canada on Interac | The service fees PDF effective March 12, 2026 prints $1.50 for a non-Desjardins Interac withdrawal in Canada. AccuLink is free. Plus network withdrawals are $3.00 in North America and $5.00 elsewhere. Some plans include non-Desjardins withdrawals, and the guide says Desjardins then charges no fee. The machine operator may still charge, and must show that fee on the screen before you continue. |
| National Bank, The Total package | No Interac surcharge from National Bank | The fee guide effective February 15, 2026 lists use of the Interac and Cirrus networks as a benefit of The Total package, and it says National Bank charges no Interac network surcharge. This row does not copy a dollar for The Minimalist. That package's out-of-network dollar was not printed in the lines read. |
Banks not in this table
BMO's everyday banking fees PDF did not open on 16 October 2026. Coast Capital's service fees page timed out. Simplii's legal page describes bank machines and does not print an ATM dollar. EQ Bank's fees page says the Personal Account has no everyday banking fees and does not print an ATM dollar. RBC's additional services page prints $3.50 CAD for each cash withdrawal or advance, and it says that fee is in addition to any fee your financial institution may charge. This page does not treat that sentence as the fee an RBC customer pays at another bank's machine.
A stop payment is a different line. Those dollars are in stop payment fees in the US and Canada. How fees show on a Canadian statement keeps an ATM line apart from the monthly plan fee.
Questions
- Is $2 the fee at every Canadian bank?
- No. On 16 October 2026, TD Every Day and Scotiabank printed $2 or $2.00 in Canada. Tangerine printed $1.50 at another ABM in Canada. Desjardins printed $1.50 on Interac. CIBC Smart prints $2.00 only after one rebated withdrawal, on the first tier.
- Does the machine owner add another fee?
- It can. Desjardins says some operators charge more and must show the fee on the screen before the withdrawal. The dollar in this table is the bank's own fee, not that operator fee.
- Why is RBC missing from the customer rows?
- The additional services page prints $3.50 and says it is in addition to any fee your financial institution may charge. That sentence is not a clear fee for an RBC customer at another bank's machine, so this page leaves it out of the table.
