What a PATREON charge means on your statement

Why the line looks like that

Patreon's membership billing article prints the lines a card statement may show: PATREON* Membership, or CKO Patreon* Membership. For PayPal it prints PAYPAL *PATREON IN. The asterisks are part of the text Patreon prints. The creator's name is not on the statement.

How to match the charge to a creator

Patreon's billing history article, updated 2 May 2023, says to open Settings, then More, then Billing History. The list shows the processing date, the amount, and the creator. Open the date for a receipt, including VAT. If your bank's currency is not the creator's billing currency, the statement may show a converted amount. Patreon says the bank can show both currencies. The first charge also sends an email receipt.

Patreon says its examples are in US dollars, and that billing can also be in euros or British pounds. A legacy per creation membership charges for each paid post, and you can set a monthly maximum. VAT is based on the country in Profile Settings, or on the IP address if the country is blank.
