How to avoid the Servus Credit Union monthly fee
Servus Credit Union's personal banking plans brochure, effective 1 December 2025, is the fee table for this page. A different file on the Servus website is labeled Connect First Credit Union, so those dollars are not used here. Check your bank's current fee schedule, and match the plan name on your statement, before you rely on a waiver.

Current plans and the monthly fee
The current table lists Personal Basic Plan, Personal Essential Plan, Personal Premium Unlimited Plan, Youth Plan for ages 0 to 16, Be Free for ages 17 to 25, and Senior Unlimited for ages 60 and over. The monthly fee row prints Basic $3.95, Essential $3.95 to $16.95, Premium Unlimited $25.00, Youth $0 with the brochure's words '($11.95 value)', Be Free $0 '($16.95 value)', and Senior Unlimited $0 '($16.95 value)'. The value in parentheses is what the brochure prints next to the zero. It is not a fee the zero dollar plans charge.
The next row is the balance that waives the monthly fee. Basic is not applicable, so the brochure does not show a balance that removes the $3.95. Essential is $4,000. Premium Unlimited is $5,000. Youth, Be Free, and Senior Unlimited are not applicable, because the monthly fee row is already $0. The Essential range is explained on the brochure as fee based on usage: $3.95 up to 15, $11.95 up to 60, and $16.95 for unlimited. Keep the $4,000 if you want the waiver, and still read which usage band you are in if the balance misses. How to download the statement that shows the plan is on how to download a Servus statement.
Paper statements and older plan names
e-Statement is included on all six current plans. Paper statement with cheque imaging is $2.50 on Basic, Essential, Be Free, and Senior Unlimited. It is included on Premium Unlimited and on the Youth plan. A paper fee and a monthly plan fee are different lines. Paper fees at other banks are on paper statement fees. The brochure also prints a $5.00 Interac e-Transfer cancellation fee on the current plans, with a 60 minute grace period. That is not the monthly fee. More on the network charge is on Interac e-Transfer fees.
Page 2 of the same brochure is marked legacy. Personal Pay As You Go is $0. Personal Plan 30 is $10.95, waived with a $3,000 minimum monthly balance. Personal Plan 60 is $11.95, waived at $3,500. Personal e-Plan 60 is $11.95, waived at $2,500. Personal Unlimited Plan is $16.95, waived at $4,000. If your statement still uses a legacy name, use that row. Do not apply the current Premium Unlimited $5,000 waiver to a legacy plan that prints a different balance. Meridian's own chart is on how to avoid the Meridian monthly fee. Laurentian is on how to waive the Laurentian Bank monthly fee. The wider map is Canadian bank fees.
What this brochure does not decide
A safety deposit discount is printed, not a box rent. Premium Unlimited shows a $20 discount. Senior Unlimited shows a $10 discount. The other current plans are not applicable on that row. Rents at banks that print them are on safe deposit box fees. Official cheques are unlimited on Premium Unlimited and on Senior Unlimited in the current table. Other banks' draft prices are on bank draft and cashier's check fees.
Call the number on the statement, or 1.877.378.8728 from the eStatement page, and ask which plan name is on the account and whether the minimum balance was met for that month. They can say no to removing a fee. A short script is on how to ask your bank to refund a fee. Monthly package prices at the large banks are on monthly chequing fees by bank.
Upload the statement on Expenvo. The PDF stays on your device. Expenvo lists bank fee lines it recognizes so you can see the date, the name, and the amount before you call. It does not call the bank, and it does not promise a refund. How to ask is on how to ask your bank to refund a fee.
Questions
- Which Servus plans have a $0 monthly fee?
- On the brochure effective 1 December 2025, Youth, Be Free, and Senior Unlimited print a $0 monthly fee. Basic is $3.95 with no balance waiver on that row. Essential and Premium Unlimited show $4,000 and $5,000 waivers.
- Why are there two different Servus fee files?
- The personal banking plans PDF effective 1 December 2025 is the Servus table used here. A service fee PDF linked from Servus is labeled Connect First Credit Union, so its dollars are not quoted as Servus fees.
- Does a legacy plan use the new $5,000 waiver?
- No. The legacy table prints its own balances, including $3,000, $3,500, $2,500, and $4,000. Match the plan name on the statement to the row with that name.
