Paper statement and account closing fees

By Karla CastroUpdated November 2, 2026

A paper statement fee is the charge for the statement the bank mails. An early closing fee is the charge for shutting the account a short time after you opened it. This page links the dollar each of 12 banks prints, from the schedule opened 2 November 2026. If a schedule does not print a number, the bank page says so.

What each bank prints

Opened 2 November 2026. A statement copy you ask for later is not the same line as the regular mailed statement. A CD early withdrawal penalty is not a chequing account closing fee. Upload the statement on Expenvo. The PDF stays on your device. Expenvo lists the lines. It does not sign in to the bank, and it does not close the account.

Opened 2 November 2026. One bank per row. A blank means that schedule does not print the dollar.

How to read the line

The paper fee usually posts once in the statement cycle. The closing fee posts when the account ends. The name on the line may say statement, paper, record keeping, or account closing. Write the date and the amount, then open the bank page above.

Older comparison pages still exist. They are paper statement fees at US banks, paper statement fees at Canadian banks, early account closing fees at US banks, and account closing fees at Canadian banks. The twelve pages here were opened on 2 November 2026.

Questions

Does every bank charge for a paper statement?
No. Truist prints no charge. Chase, Wells Fargo, Citi, U.S. Bank, and RBC do not print a monthly paper dollar on the schedule opened 2 November 2026.
Is a missing closing fee the same as free?
No. This page only says the schedule does not print the fee. Ask the bank before you treat that as $0.
Which banks print a closing dollar?
RBC prints $20.00 in one case. Scotiabank prints $20.00 within 90 days. BMO prints $0.00 within 14 business days and $20.00 after that.
