Wire transfer fees at Canadian banks
A wire fee is the bank's charge to send money by wire. In Canada the same price often covers a payment inside Canada and a payment abroad. The dollar is on that bank's fee list, and it can change. The receiving bank can still take its own fee.

Banks not in this table
Scotiabank, Desjardins personal accounts, Tangerine, Simplii, EQ Bank, ATB, Vancity, and Coast Capital were not opened for an outgoing wire dollar. A personal BMO fee schedule, separate from the business guide above, was not opened. A missing row is not a statement that the wire is free.
Interac e-Transfer is a different service. Its fee, if your package charges one, is on Interac e-Transfer fees.
Questions
- Is RBC's outgoing wire a flat $45?
- The page says the fee starts at $45.00 CAD on a Canadian dollar account, or $45.00 USD on a U.S. dollar account, and to ask for details. It is not written as one flat price for every wire.
- Does CIBC charge a different fee for a wire inside Canada?
- The outgoing tiers on the page opened are by amount, not by a separate domestic price. $10,000 or less is $30. From $10,000.01 to $50,000 is $50. More than $50,000 is $80.
- Is CIBC's $0 transfer the same as a wire?
- No. The $0 line is CIBC Global Money Transfer for an international send under $30,000 in online or mobile banking. The page says foreign exchange rates apply and that account transaction fees may apply.
- Will these amounts stay the same?
- No. They were opened on 16 October 2026. Your account agreement controls if the bank changes the fee.
