Expenvo vs Empower

Empower Personal Dashboard, which used to be Personal Capital, links the accounts you already have online. The PDF stays on your device. Expenvo does not ask you to sign in to the bank. The prices below are the ones each company prints.

Price

Expenvo Free is $0 USD for one bank statement upload in a calendar month. Pro is $5.99 USD/month or $47 USD a year, before tax. Pricing lists what each plan includes.

Empower's transition page says the dashboard and its features remain free, and that wealth management fees for an advisory client will not change. It does not print an advisory percent. The link accounts page says advisory services are provided for a fee by Empower Advisory Group, LLC, based on the assets being managed, with the detail in that firm's Form ADV.

The same transition page says the first 1,000 online trades in a calendar year are $0, and that each online trade after that is $6.95. That sentence is about trades. It is not the price of the dashboard.

How each one sees the transactions

Empower's link accounts page says you search for the bank, or type its website, choose a category such as cash or credit cards, enter credentials, and Empower verifies them with the institution. The dashboard then updates and categorizes the information. A separate help article says some institutions open a window on the bank's own site, so you grant access without typing the password into Empower. Not every institution has that.

Expenvo does not ask for a bank login. You download a statement PDF from the bank, then open it in the browser. The PDF stays on your device. How to read a statement PDF is the page for that file. Upload the statement on Expenvo. The PDF stays on your device.

Empower describes a net worth view, a budget, a retirement planner, and an investment checkup. Expenvo lists bank fees and subscriptions on the statement you open. It does not manage investments, and it does not tell you to cancel a subscription.

If a price changes

A free dashboard is not the same job as reading one PDF. Empower publishes account linking and, for a fee, advice. Expenvo publishes statement reading. Use the current page from that company if a number here is out of date.

Empower's transition page says the dashboard and features remain free. Advisory services are a separate fee. The page does not print that percent.
Is Personal Capital a different product?
Empower's transition page says Personal Capital's tools are moving to Empower, and that you log in to Empower Personal Dashboard with your Personal Capital credentials.
Does Expenvo give investment advice?
No. Empower's pages describe planning and advisory services. Expenvo lists the charges, the bank fees, and the subscriptions on the statement you open.
