How to ask about a National Bank World Elite annual fee

National Bank World Elite Mastercard has a public annual fee of $150, and $50 for an additional card, on the bank's exclusive offer page. A Milesopedia promotion can reimburse the primary card's first year fee, and only that fee. A travel expense refund of up to $150 is not a waiver of the annual fee. Asking National Bank to remove a fee already charged is a request.

The $150 and the $50

Opened 19 October 2026. The public product page at nbc.ca did not render the annual fee digits. The exclusive offer page does print them in the annual fee table: annual fee $150, annual fee for an additional card $50, purchase rate 20.99%, and balance transfer and cash advance rate 22.49%. The minimum credit limit on that table is $5,000. Eligibility on the same page is a minimum age of majority where you live, Canadian resident, and gross annual income of $80,000 for the applicant or $150,000 for the household. An existing client can also qualify with $25,000 charged to the card in a year, or with $400,000 in investable assets. Use that table, not a blank token on the product page.

A refund of up to $150 a year on travel expenses is a different line. The product page says that refund can cover airport parking, baggage fees, seat selection, lounge access, and ticket upgrades, with its own claim rules. It is not a credit against the annual fee. The chequing package fee is also different, on how to waive a National Bank monthly fee.

The first year reimbursement has a window

The same exclusive offer page describes a World Elite promotion with Milesopedia from June 30 to November 4, 2026. It reimburses annual fees for the first year for the primary cardholder only. National Bank says it will charge the fee and then reimburse it within five months of opening, if the account is still open and in good standing. You see the reimbursement as a credit on the statement. Annual fees for other authorized users are not eligible.

You must sign up through the Milesopedia link during the promotion, as the primary cardholder. You must not have held a National Bank Mastercard for individuals in the past 24 months as the primary cardholder. Employees of National Bank and its group are not eligible. The promotion can be used once, cannot be combined with another National Bank card promotion, and is not retroactive. The card still needs credit approval. A fee that posted outside that window is not covered by the words on that page.

What to ask

Use the phone number on the statement if it is printed there. Have the date, the fee name, and the amount. Ask whether the charge is the $150 primary fee or the $50 additional card fee. Ask whether the first year reimbursement was supposed to credit the primary fee, and whether a past National Bank Mastercard blocked it. Then ask National Bank to review the fee or remove it. They can say no. This page has no success rate. If the answer is no, ask about a product change and the last day to close before the next annual fee. This page does not tell you to close the card. Questions

Does the $150 travel refund pay the annual fee?
No. The travel refund is for named travel expenses, up to $150 a year, with its own claim rules. The annual fee table is a separate $150.
Does the first year offer cover an additional card?
No. The exclusive offer page says the reimbursement is for the primary cardholder's first year fee. Fees for other authorized users are not eligible.
Why does the product page look blank on the fee?
On 19 October 2026 the product page did not render the fee digits. The exclusive offer page printed $150 and $50 in the annual fee table. Use the page that shows the numbers, and the statement if they disagree.
Will National Bank remove an annual fee it already charged if I ask?
They might, and they might not. Asking is a request. A dated first year reimbursement is not a promise to erase a fee already on the statement.
