Notary fees at US banks

A notary fee is what you pay to have a signature witnessed by a notary public. Bank of America prints that it does not charge one. PNC, U.S. Bank, and Wells Fargo tell you how to book a branch notary and do not print a price. A page that is silent is not the same as a printed $0.

What was printed

Opened 19 October 2026. State law can cap what a notary may charge. That cap is not a bank fee schedule. This page only uses sentences on the bank's own site. A medallion signature guarantee, which PNC describes on the same services page, is a different stamp from a notary. PNC does not print a dollar for that stamp either.

Opened 19 October 2026. A blank price means the page did not print one.

Bank of AmericaNo fee. The notary page answers the fee question with: No. Bank of America does not charge a fee for notary services. A separate financial center FAQ says notary services are provided to customers at no charge for most types of transactions.Notary service is at many financial centers, not every one. All signers and any required witnesses must be present. Bring state acceptable ID and every page of the document. Bank of America suggests you do not sign or date the document before the visit.
PNCThe document services page does not print a notary dollar.Notary service is in person. Call ahead for an appointment. Every person named on the document must be present and must be a PNC client, with photo ID. Bring the whole document, not only the signature page.
U.S. BankThe branch notary article does not print a dollar. The article says notary service is at many branches. Bring the unsigned documents in final form and valid identification. Every signer must be there with identification. An appointment is optional.
Wells FargoThe appointment FAQ does not print a notary dollar. If you are visiting for notary service, wait to sign and date the documents in front of the notary, bring every page, and have all signers present with valid identification. The branch locator lists notary as a service to confirm with the location.

What not to assume

Chase, Citi, Capital One, and Truist were not opened for a notary price. Do not copy Bank of America's no fee sentence onto those banks. Call the branch and ask before you go, and ask whether the document type is one they will notarize.

A notary does not review the deal. Bank of America says the notary may be unable to finish if pages are missing, if ID is missing, or if the signer cannot say which notarial act is required. That refusal is not a fee. A fee on a statement with the word notary, if you see one, is the line to ask about with the date and the amount. Upload the statement on Expenvo. The PDF stays on your device. Expenvo lists the lines. It does not sign in to the bank, and it does not move the money.
