Online bill pay fees at US banks
Online bill pay is the bank's tool for sending a payment to a company from your account. Chase, Bank of America, and Wells Fargo print no extra fee for that service. U.S. Bank prints no fee for standard delivery and $14.95 for express delivery. A monthly account fee can still apply to the account the payment leaves.

The bill pay fee and the account fee
Opened 19 October 2026. A bill pay fee is a charge for using the bank's payment service. It is not the amount of the bill, and it is not the monthly fee for keeping the checking account. If the payment makes the balance too low, the bank can still charge an overdraft fee under the account rules. Wells Fargo says it does not charge overdraft fees on the Bill Pay transactions themselves, and that a Bill Pay payment can still leave the account short for other items.
A payment you set up with the company, so the company pulls the money, is not the same tool. That pull is an ACH debit. The words on that line are on ACH debit on a statement.
Upload the statement on Expenvo. The PDF stays on your device. Expenvo lists the lines. It does not sign in to the bank, and it does not move the money.
What each bank prints
These are consumer pages. A business bill pay plan can be a different price.
| Bank | Fee the page prints | Timing the same page mentions |
|---|---|---|
| Chase Online Bill Pay | No additional cost. The page also says you can pay bills without a fee. | Electronic payments are delivered in 1 or 2 days. A paper check is delivered in 5 days. Chase payees can be paid the same day if you schedule before the cutoff. The page does not print a separate rush price. |
| Bank of America bill pay | No. The help article answers the fee question with that word. | Bank of America says to schedule the payment at least 5 business days before the due date. |
| Wells Fargo online banking fees | None. The page says there is no monthly service fee to use Bill Pay. | Account fees, such as a monthly service fee, can still apply to the account you pay from. The FAQ says to allow at least two to five business days, and that a paper check can take more than 5 days. |
| U.S. Bank Bill Pay | Standard delivery: no fee. Express delivery: $14.95 per payment. | Standard is usually 1 to 2 business days electronic, or 5 to 6 business days for a paper check. Express, for most billers, is the same day or overnight. The fee guide says Safe Debit accounts are not eligible for express delivery. |
Banks left out
Citi, PNC, Capital One, and Truist were not opened for a bill pay dollar. A missing row is not a statement that bill pay is free, and it is not a statement that a rush payment costs $14.95. That $14.95 line is U.S. Bank's.
A late fee from the company you paid is not the bank's bill pay fee. If the bank's own guarantee covers a delay, the rules are on that bank's page. Chase prints a guarantee with conditions. This page does not turn that guarantee into a promise for every bank.
